Verlaun Fonder
Verlaun Fonder, 84, Minot, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her home.
Verlaun was born on July 22, 1936 at Fingal, North Dakota, to Victor and Vivian (Walters) Christianson. She attended school in Fingal and graduated from Fingal High School in 1954.
She married LeRoy Fonder on September 27, 1957 in Valley City, ND, where the young couple lived for several years. LeRoy was employed at the Hide & Fur. They moved to Fargo, ND, where LeRoy was made manager of Simonson’s Station. Later, they were transferred to Minot. LeRoy died on September 6, 1985.
Verlaun is survived by her children, RaNae (Brent) Hauge, Mohall, ND, Randy, Rod, and Richie (Bobbi) Fonder, all of Minot; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Verna (Bud) Anderson and Verlynn (Sue) Christianson, both of Valley City, Vernette (Jim) Maus, Fargo, and Valeria (Fritz) Salzwedel of Sheldon, ND; brother, Vincent (Doris) Christianson of Hidden Valley Lake, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters, Violet (Bud) Thorslund and Vicki (Alan) Johnson; and brother Vernon Christianson.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Minot. The service will be video recorded for the public to view and can be accessed by going to YouTube . Those attending are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask. Burial will take place at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot at a later date.
