SVFA Reaches Out To Community For Support

- Special to Times-Record

Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals, a local nonprofit organization of volunteers who serve as advocates for stray or abandoned animals in need of care, invite community members, groups and agencies to renew their membership or become a new partner. SVFA teams up with local residents, agencies law enforcement personnel and veterinarians, among others, to provide health care and facilitate adoptions for needy animals. Last year, the organization aided 115 furry creatures: 98 cats/ kittens, 16 dogs/puppies

and 1 guinea pig. Of the 115 animals who came to them, only 14 of them were spayed or neutered. SVFA covered the cost of those who were old enough to be spayed or neutered before they went to their forever homes or provided assistance to forever homes who spayed or neutered

their new furry friends when they became old enough. The spay/neuter procedure adds significantly to the cost of the wellness check that each animal receives when they come into SVFA’s care, but it remains a vital part of making sure all animals are cared for and have loving, forever homes.

Through a joint program with the Valley

City Veterinary Hospital, SVFA gives out 40 coupons during Spay/ Neuter Week each September. In 2020, all 40 coupons were used! Through the year, SVFA also provided financial assistance to 13 homes that needed help with spaying or neutering their pet, and SVFA courtesy listed 49 pets whose families needed to find a new home for them.

Your membership will help SVFA continue to provide the following services:

Spay/Neuter Program, Humane Education (visits to schools, newspaper articles, radio spots and website information), Foster Homes, Lost and Found program and the HomeAgain microchip program.

SVFA asks that you please consider beginning

or continuing a membership with the Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals, adding that every dollar they raise and every minute of time they invest goes 100% toward improving the lives of animals in the area.

You can find the membership application and more information about SVFA at their website: svfanimals.org
