-

South Central Adult Services Council, Inc., also known to many as the Senior Center is located at 139 Second Avenue SE in Valley City and is a not-for-profit organization operating since May 1983.

The organization create(s) public awareness of the elderly and their needs, create(s) an atmosphere where the elderly themselves will help solve problems and meet their needs, and coordinate(s) existing services and agencies." The services provided allow elderly in the area to remain independent and involved in their communities for as long as possible by offering a variety of services.

South Central Adult Services offers outreach services to help link individuals to services that can help them, provides transportation, offers prescription assistance, is home to the counties food pantry and provides various meals and nutrition information.

The center has made some changes due to Covid-19 pandemic over the last year. Congregate dining and activities will be limited to groups of 10 or less until further notice. Hot daily meals, and frozen meals, can be picked up at 11:30 a.m. in front of the senior center with the meals delivered by staff out to your car. The home delivered meals program has continue as normal. Please call the center for full information.

These changes are being implemented in all six counties served by South Central Adult Services. They include Barnes, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan and McIntosh counties. South Central Adult Services will continue to monitor the situation, work with state and local health officials and will follow recommended guidance as it becomes available. All programs and services are being evaluated on a case by case basis to ensure the safety of all involved.

At this time, South Central Transit Network transportation services will continue operating as usual in all 8 counties (Barnes, Emmons, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh

& Nelson). Masks are required by drivers and passengers on all buses.

To further lessen exposure, we are offering pharmacy and grocery pickup for seniors and vulnerable people.
