Hi-Liner Girls and Boys Take on Shanley
Hi-Liner Girls Fight Hard But Fall to Deacons 66-47
The Valley City HiLiners took to the court against the Fargo Shanley Deacons. The girls were playing at home in the Hi-Liner Activity Center, while the boys were away, and the girls had a quick game, with little fouls and continuous ball movement.
The game started out rough for the Hi-Liners, losing first possession, and not scoring for almost two minutes. Dieterle scored the first basket for the Hi-Liners after a stealthy steal. The Hi-Liners didn’t hold the lead until a three-point basket was scored by Tessa Olson, putting the Hi-Liners a single point ahead of the Deacons. From this point on, it was a consistent back and forth between the teams, and by the time there were eight minutes left in the half, the score was up to 18-16, with the Hi-Liners leading. Both teams played hard, and relatively clean defense, with the Hi-Liners fouling the Deacons eight times, while the Deacons fouled us seven times. At half-time, the score was up to 27-32, Deacons ahead.
The Hi-Liners seemed tired throughout the second half, slowing down offensively. The Deacons held onto the lead for a majority of the half, and by the eight-minute mark the Deacons were ahead by seventeen points. From there, the Hi-Liners couldn’t seem to catch up, losing to the Deacons 47-66.
The Hi-Liners don’t play at home again until next Tuesday, where the boys will play at home against the Wahpeton
