Young Republican women recently held a meet-up in Valley City. Gwendolyn Rappuhn of Fessenden, Chair of the North East region of the NDYR coordinated the get-together Saturday the 13th at The Alley Bean in Valley City. For many it was their first reunion since campaigning together last summer all over the state for Republican candidates.
In addition to giving a number of young women from different parts of the region the chance to meet each other, the meet-up gave them the opportunity to meet and engage with National Republic an Committeewoman, Lori Hinz of Bismarck. Hinz is presently cohosting the TV show “No Apologies” with Rep. Rick Becker on Bek News TV.
Hinz educated, enlightened and entertained the group with accounts of her experiences since assuming the post of National Committeewoman. Starting as a volunteer stuffing envelopes at the state headquarters years ago, Hinz had gradually worked toward a leadership role in the Republican Party, and was finally elected to her position at the “mail in” GOP convention last summer.
The two hour discussion dealt less with party politics and more with “whole life” opportunities that present themselves when people become politically aware and active. “This is a labor of love”, she said of her job as National Committeewoman. “We do not get paid, in fact, it gets pretty spendy because we National Committee members pay our own expenses. “The National Committee members, along with State Party Chairman determine the policies of the National Party
Hinz, a strong Christian and pro-life advocate does not shrink from discussion of these core values of her life. As a true champion of a woman’s right to pursue a career, she discussed her own careers and how she has learned to juggle the demands of working as a radio announcer, TV personality , fitness instructor, wife and mother while fulfilling her new role as national committeewoman.
