BISMARCK, N.D. – In another move toward shaping future dairy champions, Midwest Dairy has announced the 2021 North Dakota Dairy Ambassadors. These two students will promote the dairy community and support Midwest Dairy’s mission to work with others to give consumers an excellent dairy experience at a variety of activities throughout the year.

The group of 2021 Midwest Dairy Ambassadors was selected from applications across the Midwest Dairy region, including Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. These students have a passion for dairy, are enrolled in post-secondary school, and possess strong communication abilities.

The following North Dakota students will represent the dairy industry in a variety of activities, including interacting with consumers and dairy farmers at the North Dakota State Fair, North Dakota Winter Show, Big Iron Farm Show, Dr. Dawn’s Dairy Day, and multiple dairy farm open houses and dairy industry meetings:

• Sydney Kleingartner is from a diversified dairy and farming operation by Gackle, ND and is currently attending Bismarck State College, majoring in farm and ranch management.

• Carmen Entzminger is from a diversified dairy and farming operation by Jamestown, ND and is currently attending Moorhead State University, majoring in social work.

The Dairy Ambassador program also provides students with leadership opportunities to connect with consumers and share their dairy story while networking with their peers and industry professionals. Additionally, each ambassador will be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship at the end of their oneyear term.

“The passion for dairy farming runs deep in the hearts of North Dakotans,” says Amber Boeshans, Farmer Relations manager with Midwest Dairy. “Midwest Dairy’s Ambassador Program embraces dairy tradition, while securing the industry’s future by encouraging and supporting students like Carmen and Sydney. Both were raised on dairy farms, and have personal stories about the modern farming practices their families use securing the health of their land and animals for generations to come.”

Beginning six years ago in Nebraska, the Dairy Ambassador program is a coordinated effort between Midwest Dairy and various colleges and state extension programs within the eight states where the programs are available.
