Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation Recognizes Outgoing Members & Announces New Board of Directors

-

The Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation would like to thank and recognize outgoing board members George Gaukler, Derek Jungels and Diane Hochhalter. Their service and commitment to the board allowed us to advance our mission and promote giving across the Sheyenne River Valley.

The Foundation would like to give special recognition to George Gaukler who served as a founding board member and was instrumental in building the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation. George’s broad vision of community giving, financial support and determination allowed the Community Foundation to grow into a sustainable organization. “George had a vision which has now become the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation, without his vision we would not be here today. We want to thank him for his immeasurable time, talent and treasure” commented David Beierle, SVCF Board President.

Newly elected members to the Board of Directors are: Josh Lagein, Dr. Chelsea Traverse, and Ken Reid.

Josh Lagein and his wife Tessa have been in Valley City for the past 8 years. Josh works as an Engineer at John Deere and serves on the Valley City Baseball Association. “Valley City has been a great place for us to raise our family. I am excited to give back to the community that has given our family a place we call home by serving on the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation board,” he stated.

Dr. Chelsea Traverse moved to Valley City 5 years ago with her husband Zach and dog Bentley to work at Sanford Clinic as a family medicine physician. Originally from a rural North Dakota town, Dr. Traverse was excited to return to a similar community. She remarked, “I have seen firsthand the benefits that have come from the work of the Foundation and was honored to be asked to join the board. I look forward to making connections that will support future projects.”

Ken Reid was born and raised in the Valley City/ Sanborn area and is a graduate of NDSU with degrees in engineering. Ken spent his 36-year career with IBM in the Rochester Development Lab, then retired and moved home to North Dakota with his wife Jan. They spend their time volunteering and enjoying their granddaughters. “We believe that we must all do our best to improve the community we live in. I joined the Foundation as a great way to help the area progress and grow. I look forward to doing what I can to assist the Foundation and community,” said Reid.
