Valley City Times-Record

Ladies’ Day (Gents Welcome, Too!) 2021 in VC, Nov. 5th & 6th

- By TR Staff treditor@times-online.com

As Jack-o’-Lanterns and skeletons come off porches and front lawns, we head into the season of hot chocolate, apple cider, homemade cookies and festive lights. Valley City has a great way to help people near and far jump start the holiday season on the right foot, in a cozy and fun hometown way.

On November 5th & 6th, Valley City Chamber of Commerce’s Ladies’ Day will have something to offer everyone who ventures to explore the area. In true small-town style, businesses around the city will play host to special music, drawings, discounts and so much more with that warm Valley City hospitality.

Shopping local is something that’s vital to keeping communities vibrant and flourishing, and hometown stores offer people a unique experience while helping them find just what they’re looking for this holiday season.

Grab your gals (or anyone else—the day is for everyone!) and enjoy all that businesses are offering this Friday and Saturday.

“Businesses and organizations are ready to roll out the red carpet for this event,” says Kay Vinje, Valley City Chamber of Commerce

Vice President. “We want to encourage people to look at home for their shopping first, to discover what’s right here.”

When considering where to grab gifts and new items for your home, it’s vital to remember that shopping at home means not only supporting your friends’ and neighbors’ business; it also means that you have access to a variety of products you can’t get anywhere else. And the money that’s spent in Valley City goes back into the community to keep it as lovely as it has always been.

Even if you’re not sure what’s on your list yet, Ladies’ Day is the perfect opportunity to see what you might want to write down. You can step into stores all around town and see what they offer, maybe even finding a treasure you can’t be without, all while enjoying the charm of Valley City.

You know those paintings of quaint, snowdusted towns—downtown businesses with beautiful brick facades, street lights adorned with garland, wreaths and decorations, a pair in coats, gloves and hats sipping a steaming cup of coffee or cider while walking down the sidewalk. Folks hang those photos up above their fireplace mantles because of the warmth

and comfort there is in thinking of communities like that.

What’s unique about Valley City is that it

is one of those towns. Those scenes in paintings are right in our backyard. It’s easy to forget how special it is, but the friendly faces in stores and warm, cozy scene this small town offers are special.

“Invite people to spend the day in Valley City and come experience it for yourself,” Vinje says. “We often have a lot of people from out of town who come in to enjoy Ladies’ Day every year.”
