The funeral service for James (Jim) Reynold Peterson, 74, of Valley City, North Dakota will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. He died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Bethany on University, Fargo, North Dakota.

James Reynold Peterson was born December 15, 1947 in Valley City, the son of Reynold and Inez (Marler) Peterson. He attended and graduated from Valley City High School in 1966.

He then attended Valley

City State University and received his bachelor degree in education. Jim worked for his parents at the HiWay Grocery for several years until he and brothers Ron and Gary purchased Earl’s Texaco gas station across the street from Earl Busche on January 1977 and renamed it Brother’s III. In 1980, they moved the Hi-Way Grocery to the station. They continue to own Brother’s III. The three brothers purchased Dakota Silver May 1, 1994 and sold it in August 2019.

He was united in marriage to Dianne Gellerman Busche on March 16, 1984. She passed away on on February 26, 2014.

Jim was an emphatic Green Bay Packer’s fan.

He enjoyed hunting and loved his pets over the years especially his dogs that he spoiled. Jim was a volunteer fireman at the Valley City Fire Department for four years, an avid bowler and trap shooter. He was also a member of the Eagles for over 45 years.

He is survived by his two brothers, Ron (LeeAnn) Peterson and Gary (Jennifer) Peterson both of Valley City; a sister Gloria Lowe, Edina Minnesota; step children Suzanne (Jay) Heise, Valley City and Steven (Barb) Busche, Jamestown, North Dakota; and his step grandchild­ren and step great grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
