This is Your Story
Event design shop seeks to make memories
Your Story is just beginning – the newlyopened event design and decor rental business celebrating that fact with an open house on Saturday, showcasing a gallery of beauty in the office block behind the Econo Lodge on Winter Show Road.
Melissa Kvilvang and Breanne Wenaas know firsthand just how special some life events inevitably can be, and how meaningful it is to make those memories as magical as possible.
“Both my son and daughter have been married this past year and … it was just one of the most memorable times, for each wedding,” Kvilvang said. “Both Breanne and I invested a lot of time and heartstrings into it and it really made the space breathtaking, beautiful – just fun to be a part of. It creates a whole different atmosphere when you can be in a space that is that warm and homey and inviting.”
Your Story’s approach is all about being customizable – the great span of potential decor and concepts in their store offers a tantalizing glimpse to the variety of concepts they could create, decorations ranging from towers of flowers to typewriters to crystalline chalices and goblets of gold.
“We do lots of different options, we can do wedding packages, we do baby and bridal showers, we can do a lot with you to customize … what our clientele is needing,” Kvilvang said.
While not at all exclusively catering to weddings, Kvilvang and Wenaas both understand the stresses that come with trying to plan so monumental an event, and they hope to offer their services to lift that weight from their clients’ shoulders.
“We have several different brides that come in who either want to rent things or want the whole (package), everything we offer, from start to finish, so they don’t have to stress about their day and they can just show up and enjoy their day,” Wenaas said. “Having us come in and do it for you just takes so much off that bride, that groom, those parents … we come in and we will do everything, so they can just enjoy the special moments, of getting ready, of seeing your daughter for the first time in her dress.
That goes for birthdays too.”
Your Story’s open house itself showcased just some of the hospitality of the new business, which has already done a few events in the area, including at the Nome Schoolhouse and City Lights Supper Club & Neighborhood Pub. With the spring and summer months approaching and new opportunities for events on the horizon, Your Story is ready to start.
“We want to be a part of your story so you can be a part of ours,” Wenaas said.
