WEEKLY ONGOING EVENTS/REMINDERS:

*The Bridges Backpack Program / Hi-Liner Pantry will be opening a Summer Grocery every Wednesday evening starting June 1st running thru August 3rd from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in the FAC’s room at the High School use door # 7. There will not be grab and go lunches this summer due to funding issues. We still want to help any family out that might need a little extra for breakfast, lunches or dinner. No income requiremen­ts and no questions asked. Please share! If anyone is interested in donating can do so by bringing it to the High School on Wednesday nights.

*St. Catherine Quilters make quilts for those in need, meeting every Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the basement gym of St. Catherine School. All are welcome, no experience necessary and supplies are provided. Questions call Christine 701-840-2580 or Lela 701845-8352.

*AA Fellowship Corner Meeting Schedule: Monday 8 p.m., Tuesday 6 p.m., Wednesday noon, Friday noon, Saturday 8 p.m. NA meets on Wednesday’s at 7 p.m. at Fellowship Corner. For more informatio­n call 701-845-3705. The meetings are held at 320 2nd Ave SE in Valley City.

Fri., May 27

• Sodbuster’s Fun Night will be held Friday, May 27th from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. serving Rocky Mountain oysters and fish fry until gone. Enjoy games, raffles at Sodbuster Saloon in Sibley, ND.

• VCHS Speech Team will host a spaghetti benefit on Friday, May 27th from 5-7 p.m. at the VC Eagles Club. All proceeds will assist to send students to compete at Nationals in Louisville Kentucky.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: BBQ ribs, baked potatoes, creamed corn, apricots. Bone Builders Exercise 9:30 a.m., bingo 1 p.m.

• VCPS and St. Catherine’s 2021-22 school year will end May 27th for the last day of the 2021-22 school year. School will resume on August 24, 2022.

Sat., May 28

• VCBC Public Library activities: 10:30 a.m. LEGO Club.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Summer sausage & cheese sandwich, zesty italian salad, cookie.

• A Cornhole Tournament will be held at Spiritwood Resort Saturday, May 28th. Registrati­on from 12-1 p.m. Bags play at 1:15 p.m. For more informatio­n call 701252-4963.

• Ringsaker Cemetery clean up day will be held Satuday, May 28th, 1:15 p.m.

• VCHS Graduation for the Class of 2022 will be held May 29th, 2:30 p.m., at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

• Maple Valley Class of 2022 Graduation will be hedl Sunday, May 29th at 2 p.m. at the school.

• VCBC Public Library will be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Center will be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

• Barnes County Courthouse will be closed in honor of Memorial Day, Monday May 30, 2022. Sheriff and Barnes County Jail will remain staffed.

Memorial Day Services:

• The various Veteran Organizati­ons in Valley City will be conducting Military Honors on Memorial Day in remembranc­e of those who have died for their country. Military Honors will consist of wreath placement, prayer, gun salute and taps.

After rendering Military Honors performanc­es consisting of Patriotic Music will be conducted at 11:25am by VC High/Junior School Band. Attendees are then invited inside the Eagles for lunch starting at 1200. In the event of inclement weather the Military Honors will be conducted at the Eagles only at 11:15am. VC High/Junior High School Band performanc­es will be conducted indoors at the Eagles.

The Eckelson-Sanborn Memorial Day program

will be held Monday, May 30, starting at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Following the program visitation to the Fairview and Sacred Heart cemeteries and Sanborn Veterans Park. Lunch will follow at the Sanborn Community Center. All are welcome to attend.

• Barnes County Senior Center meals and activities: Chicken kiev, baby bakers, carrots, fresh fruit. Pinochle tournament 1:15 p.m.

• Music in the Park: Dan Brekke - A tribute to legends of country will entertain Wednesday, June 1st, 7:15 p.m. at the Bandshell in City Park. If the weather does not permit, performanc­es will be in the VCSU Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public with a will donation taken and put towards the continued programs and restoratio­n of the bandshell.
