WEEKLY ONGOING EVENTS/REMINDERS:

*Dakota Rider Father’s Day Hillclimb has been postponed until Saturday, August 27, 10 a.m.

*The Bridges Backpack Program / Hi-Liner Pantry will be opening a Summer Grocery every Wednesday evening starting June 1st running thru August 3rd from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in the FAC’s room at the High School use door # 7. There will not be grab and go lunches this summer due to funding issues. We still want to help any family out that might need a little extra for breakfast, lunches or dinner. No income requiremen­ts and no questions asked. Please share! If anyone is interested in donating can do so by bringing it to the High School on Wednesday nights.

*St. Catherine Quilters

make quilts for those in need, meeting every Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the basement gym of St. Catherine School. All are welcome, no experience necessary and supplies are provided. Questions call Christine 701-840-2580 or Lela 701845-8352.

*AA Fellowship Corner Meeting Schedule:

• 2022 Valley City Clean Up Week will be held June 6th-11th. June 6th-10th will be curbside pickup and landfil dropoff. June 11th from 8 a.m.-12 noon the landfill will be open for dropoff only.

• Pifer land auction will be held at the VC Eagles Club from 8:30 a.m.-noon on June 9th.

• The Monroe Doctrine, house bluegrass band at the Vault Coffee Shop, will be performing from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the Vault on Thursday, June 9. Free-will donations are appreciate­d. This week the concert will include special guests Kasey Moore and Evie Andrus from Knoxville, TN who are touring the midwest.

• 28th annual Jamestown Kite Fest will be held June 10-12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. everyday in Meidinger Park Addition, 17th Ave SW and 10th St SW, Jamestown.

• VCSU alumni associatio­n will meet at the VC Eagles Club on June 10th from 5-10 p.m.

Sat., June 11

• The June Valley City bluegrass jam session is scheduled for Saturday, June 11 from 1:00-5:00 pm at the Vault Coffee Shop. The jam is acoustic-only, free, and open to the public and designed for players with their basic bluegrass playing and singing skills in place. • Pioneer Park Amphitheat­er Series with host the Bluestems Band on Sunday, June 12th in Valley City, starting at 5:30 p.m. The events are free of charge and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.

• City of Buffalo will hold a Spring Clean Up throughout the city.

Mon., June 13

• The Community Closet will be open June 13th from 5-7 p.m. in the basement of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City.

• Rally in the Valley Duck Race ducks can be purchased at the Hi-Liner Activity Center lobby on Monday, June 13th from 5-7 p.m. All proceeds will go to Education Foundation for Valley City Public Schools in support of the Access for All program.

Tues., June 14

• VFW will hold a meeting at the VC Eagles Club on June 14th, 6:30 p.m.

• VCBC Public Library Activities: 10 a.m. Let’s Go Fishing at the Fish Hatchery; 2 p.m. Nemo movie; 5 beekeeping demo.

Wed., June 15

• Music in the Park: Evie Andrus along with Kasey Moore - Fiddle, mandoline and guitar music will entertain Wednesday, June 15th, 7:15 p.m. at the Bandshell in City Park. If the weather does not permit, performanc­es will be in the VCSU Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public with a will donation taken and put towards the continued programs and restoratio­n of the bandshell. • Tom Oakland of the ND Dept of Commerce, will speak on “Can North Dakota Be Carbon Neutral by 2030? Governor Burgum’s Plan”, a presentati­on on Climate Change . It will be held in the auditorium at the Rhoades Science Center on the campus of Valley City State University. It is free and sponsored by “What in the World Is Going On?” If you are unable to attend in person you can participat­e virtually via Zoom. Sommerfeld in concert. A Pink ice cream social will be held in the lobby at 8 p.m. with Alley Beans serving coffee. The event is free, but please bring a non-perishable food item donation for the Barnes County Food Pantry.
