Hi-Liner Wrestler of the Week features Gabby Hannig
Wrestler of the Week for the week ending January 21, 2023 is Gabby Hannig.
Gabby Hannig is a 7th grader that attends Maple Valley High School and wrestles at 105lbs for VCHS and is currently ranked #3 in the state. Gabby had a super day of wrestling at the Storhaug Invitational wrestling tournament. She won all 3 matches on her way to capturing the title, and won all 3 matches by pin. In the first match she pinnned Aurie Jacobson from Rugby in 3:10. She pinned her second opponent, Kenzi Jost of Carrington with 2 seconds remaining in the first period. In her finals match, she battled with 11th grader Taya Lura from Carrington, the #6 ranked wrestler in the state. Gabby secured the pin early in the 3rd period to become
tournament champion.
