VCHS Hi-Liner Varsity & JV Boys Basketball 22-23

The boys’ basketball season has been a process. Collective­ly at the beginning of the season, it was difficult to get the entire team to play 36 minutes, then they understood energy for 36 minutes but struggled with turnovers and without scoring in spurts. Then we got to a point in the season where we were playing with great energy, cutting down on turnovers, playing sound defense, but still struggled putting the ball in the basket. Although the record and results do not reflect the immense amount of improvemen­t that this team has made, they have worked very hard to put themselves in a position to extend their season. Beating Horace has given the team confidence that if we play the way we are supposed to anything is possible. 3rd time being the lucky charm the boys are going into the play-in game vs Shanley with a lot of confidence. We talked about the state of ND’s motto

of “Be Legendary”, now we have the opportunit­y to do just that by being a huge spoiler in the EDC Regional Tournament.

The varsity season ended with a 78-60 loss to Fargo Shanley in the EDC Play-In game.

The Hi-Liner junior varsity, coached by Brandon Bradford, finished the season with a 4-16 mark.

The C-Squad end the season on a high note winning the C-Squad tournament in Grand Forks. The Hi-Liners defeated West Fargo Horace 93-53 to win the championsh­ip.

The Valley City Boys Jr High basketball season came to an end on February 11th.

The 7th grade team finished with a record of 3 wins and 11 losses. The 7th grade team had a few boys that played before but many were first time players. All the boys worked hard and continued to improve throughout the season. They were really playing as a team by the end of the
