VCHS Hi-Liner Girls Basketball 22-23
The Valley City HiLiner girl’s basketball team has had a tough season with injuries and sickness seeming to hit us at every corner. The girls have been resilient and have continued to work and battle every game. They are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now and heading into the playoffs Saturday that is what we want.
During the season the Hi-Liners added another name to the list of 1,000 point scorers. On January 24th, Brooke Eggermont made a free throw with 11:38 remaining in the first half. It was her third point of the game and the 1,000th point of her career. She would finish that game with 17 points and 1, 014 for her career. Eggermont now stands at 1,135 points heading into the post season.
With the end of the season nearing, Four seniors will be wrapping
up their Hi-Liner careers. Samantha Hatcher, Carly Goven, Faith Peterson and Brooke Eggermont.
The C-Squad had seven freshmen on the team. The played mostly C-Squad teams but did face a couple
of JV Teamsand ended the season with a 14-5 record. Tara Glandt was the head coach for the Hi-Liner C-Squad team.
For the junior high teams: Coach Tom Glandt adds: “We had ten 7th grade girls and
five 8th grade girls on our teams this season. In our Junior High season we had records of:
7th grade girls: 10-1 8th grade girls: 7-3 The junior high girls also had the opportunity
to have an extended season where they were able to play against some older teams. We had three of our 8th graders and five of our 7th graders continue with the extended season. Because of some weather issues we were
only able to get five more games in but went 4-1 in those games. We had wins over Shanley’s freshmen (twice), Medina/Pingree/Buchanan’s JV and Kidder County’s JV. Our lone loss was to West Fargo Sheyenne’s freshmen.
