Sophomore Ashlyn Diemert leads the Vikings in scoring this season averaging 11.6 points per game. Senior Taryn Dieterle leads the team in rebounds with a 6.2 rebounds per game average.
VCSU Viking Men
After finishing strong in 2021-22, Valley City State men’s basketball team came into this season with optimism and eight seniors. The
Vikings went 18-11 last season and 8-6 in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). The Vikings reached the final four in the NSAA conference tournament before falling to Bellevue in the semifinals.
The Vikings were picked to finish fourth in the conference in the preseason poll, and that is where they finished.
After a 1-3 start, the Vikings won seven of their last ten conference games, including a three game winning streak.
The Vikings head into the conference tournament with a 15-13 record and they went 8-6 in the NSAA.
Senior Daevonte Munson leads the team in scoring averaging 14 points and game.
Sophomore Hunter Lyman leads the team in rebounds with a 6.2 rebounds per game average.
One of the highlights on the season for Valley City State was a 102-98 win at home over eventual conference champ Mayville State, six days after the Comets defeated the Vikings by twelve points in Mayville.
