Leon LuVerne Bellmore, 93, Fargo, North Dakota formerly of Valley City, North Dakota passed away February 8, 2024, at Eventide in Fargo.

The funeral service for Leon will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday February 14, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. Interment with military honors will be at the Fargo National Cemetery.

Leon LuVerne Bellmore was born March 28, 1930, at Wolverton, Minnesota to William and Katherine (Neppl) Bellmore. He attended school in Henning, Minnesota. Leon studied in the electrical field at the age of 19. He was drafted into the US Army and stationed in Alaska during the Korean War, serving from 1951 until 1953. In 1958 he married Carol “Tweety” Tweten and moved to Bottineau, North Dakota. Leon worked as an electricia­n to electrify oil wells for 11 years, so it meant moving several times. They settled in Valley City where he became a partner in Electrical Builders, where he was the president until retirement. Tweety passed away on June 13, 2022.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing and yard work. Leon was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Eagles, Elks, American Legion. His love of golfing meant spending lots of time at the Town and Country Golf Club.

Leon and Tweety were blessed with three children who survive him, Paul (Colene), Brandon, South Dakota, Patric (Carla), Fargo, Jennifer (Jarred) Gasal, Jamestown; nine grandchild­ren, Christophe­r (Danielle) Bellmore, Michael Bellmore, Lindsey (Andy) Yanish and Broc (Molly) Bellmore, Gavyn Gasal and Ginger Gasal, Mackenzie Gasal, Blayke (Abby) Gasal and Talexi Gasal; three great granddaugh­ters, Olivia and Lillian Bellmore (children of Christophe­r and Danielle) and Dally Gasal (daughter of Blayke and Abby). He is also survived by brothers: Marvin (Joanne) Bellmore, Allen (Mary) Bellmore, Gary (Faith) Bellmore and Ron (Mert) Bellmore; sister, Diane (Wayne) Newhouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, wife Tweety, brothers Howard, Ben, Lyle and Joe; and sisters, Jeanette, Marlys, Blanche and Joanne.

Memorials may be directed to the Our Savior’s Foundation, Valley City.
