Iron Chef Masa­haru Morimoto of­fi­cially opened his Morimoto Las Ve­gas restau­rant at MGM Grand on No­vem­ber 3. The evening kicked off with a tra­di­tional lion dance, a sym­bolic act of bring­ing good for­tune to a new en­deavor. Chef Morimoto broke down a 132-pound tuna with his leg­en­dar­ily pre­cise knife skills, to the de­light of the crowd. MGM ex­ec­u­tives then as­sisted Chef Morimoto in cre­at­ing a 100-foot maki sushi roll with the fresh tuna. Guests were served Morimoto clas­sics, such as hamachi tacos and pan-fried pork gy­oza, plus the tep­pan ta­bles siz­zled with Ja­panese A-5 wagyu and Colorado or­ganic lamb chops. The crowd of Las Ve­gas VIPS drank soon-to-be lo­cal fa­vorite Green Dragon and Mango Lo­tus cock­tails.
