Beginning Sept. 9, the new season of the Las Vegas Philharmonic (lvphil.org) brings an innovative mix heavy on American classics. Music Director Donato Cabrera gives us a sneak peek into the new season. I'm particularly excited about “Copland in Mexico” on Nov. 4! I am, too! Because it is a concert that is supported, in part, through a grant by the National Endowment of the Humanities, we will be connecting with parts of our community in ways we have never before connected. Convince us that everyone needs to attend the pre- concert conversations. I changed the name from pre-concert lectures to preconcert conversations, and I always have with me on stage the soloist for the evening. What should we not miss this year? For the opening night concer t, we’re playing a beautiful showpiece by John Adams, in celebration of his 70th bir thday. And the much-anticipated return of Pink Mar tini is not to be missed! –
