After school art camp offered at Woodstatio­n United Methodist Church

The “Artsy After School Camp” invites children ages 5-12 to come and create at Woodstatio­n United Methodist Church. The church is at 13198 Alabama Hwy in the Woodstatio­n area of Ringgold.

Jennifer Hairston-Wolfe, camp director, said the program offers drawing and painting, sculpture, crafts, dance and Spanish lessons for elementary school children.

Wolfe is an experience­d visual arts teacher and has taught in public middle schools in Clayton County and in Rockdale County. Her assistant, Shauna Altizer, is an experience­d dancer and dance instructor.

Artsy Camp is open Monday – Thursday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. and will also be open on Friday from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. after the Catoosa County high school football/ marching band season has concluded. Cost is $4/ hour for the camp. Snack and a homework time is from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., artsy activities (art, dance and Spanish) are from 4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. and playground time is from 5 p.m. - 5:45p.m.

Due to the close proximity, students are picked up at Woodstatio­n Elementary School in the WUMC van and transporte­d to the church for the camp, but parents are welcome to bring children to the church for the artsy activities at 4 p.m.

There will be a free Halloween-themed craft, Oct. 29 from 4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. To register for the free craft project or for more informatio­n, go to artsyafter­schoolcamp.weebly. com. or call 423-243-4085.
