Shiflett ties own record in Northwest win

-

After throwing for a school-record five touchdowns in last week’s victory, quarterback Caleb Shiflett tied his own record in the first half alone as the Northwest Whitfield Bruins thumped Heritage, 49-7, in a subregion match-up.

Tevin McDaniel caught three of the TD strikes in the first quarter and also added a 32yard interception return for another score. Andy Whisenant added a TD reception as Northwest led 49-0 at intermission.

The 5-0 Bruins were hit with some bad news, however, as defensive lineman Cameron Atkins reinjured a knee and may be done for the season.

Andrew Chavez scored the lone TD for the winless Generals on a 5-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
