Cross country runners began stretch drive toward region meets
Gordon Lee’s Sarah Meadows turned in her best finish of the season with a 30th overall showing at the fifth Chattanooga Cross Country League meet of the season Tuesday afternoon at Woodland Park Baptist Church.
Meadows clocked in at 23:28, while Jessica Stephens (26:28), Julianna Putman (30:06), Glynne Ford (31:53), and Kasie Duncan (33:11) rounded out the Lady Trojans varsity lineup.
Dylan Smith ran a 17:29 to place seventh overall for the Gordon Lee boys in the varsity race. Dakota Genter (21:32), Justin Collins (21:57), Sam Walker (23:33), Carter Glenn (23:48), and Jax Johnson (23:50) also raced for the Trojans.
Rachel Graham paced the LaFayette Lady Ramblers with a 28:40, followed by Helena Yates (29:13), Casey O’Neill (29:32), and Ali Gilbreath (30:28).
Zach Bryant led the way for the Ramblers with a time of 20:19. Rounding out the LaFayette lineup was Austin McKin (20:20), Zach Matthews (20:56), Ethan Price (22:09), Eric Hu (22:36), Shelby Hendrix (23:08), and Zach Thompson (24:58).
The Ridgeland boys were represented at the meet by Ebinino Roniex Oponod (21:59), Micah Genter (22:29), Christopher Williams (23:19), Tucker Hill (24:08), and Kleiver Arreaga (25:55).
Ridgeland did not have any female runners competing.
Kalen Williams (21:06) and Matthew McDonough (27:51) were the lone runners suiting up for Oakwood Christian.
Running in the junior varsity race for Gordon Lee was Cole Snider (24:50), Jack Glenn (26:09), Hunter Freeman (28:02), Cole Tarvin (28:43), Riley Cash (28:58), and Lennon Lowery (30:34).
Steven Trower (25:28), Kyle Bloodworth (26:23), Cullen Logan (26:38), Taylor Veal (28:12), and Nate Jones (30:46) competed in the JV race for LaFayette.
Mallory Young ran a 19:39 to lead Signal Mountain to the girls’ team title, while Jackson Goodwin’s 16:59 led Baylor to an easy team win for the Red Raiders.
Baylor will host the Front Runner Championships this Thursday.
