The Bank of LaFayette announces new loan officer and promotions

The Bank of LaFayette announced Jeremy Staton, originally from Trion, Ga., joined the staff as a new loan officer. Three other employees, Trenda Cordell, Cindy L. Scoggins and Nicole Wisenbaker, earned promotions.

“We are fortunate to have Staton join The Bank of LaFayette as a loan officer,” said Chairman-CEO Dave Gilbert. “His experience and background will be an asset to our bank for many years to come. Additional­ly, we are very grateful for the hard work and dedication shown by these three ladies.”

Staton will help customers achieve their home financing goals as well as other lending needs. He formerly served as accounting manager for CraftWorks Restaurant­s & Breweries Group, Inc., and also served the financial needs for a variety of clients while working in the public accounting sector as an external auditor for Ernst & Young LLP in Chattanoog­a, Tenn., and BDO Seidman, LLP in Atlanta, Ga.

He and his wife Heather have two daughters, ages 4 and 3, and are expecting a son later this summer. The Statons are members of LaFayette First Baptist Church and reside in LaFayette.

Trenda Cordell, an employee since 1983, was named data pro- cessing officer. She has worked in bookkeepin­g and the data processing department. After graduating LaFayette High School, she earned a diploma in accounting and legal/medical secretaria­l from Walker County Area Technical School. Trenda and her husband Kelvin Cordell have been married for 33 years.

Nicole Wisenbaker is the new assistant branch manager at the Rock Spring office. After graduating from LaFayette High School, she started working at The Bank of LaFayette in 2003. She was hired for a position in the loan department as a teller and eventually moved up to HMDA clerk and loan processor. She worked in the loan department for 12 1/2 years. Nikki and her husband Josh reside in the Rock Spring area.

Cindy L. Scoggins was named loan review officer. Scoggins has been employed with The Bank of LaFayette since 2005, beginning her career working at both the West LaFayette and Rock Spring locations. She has been at the main office for the last six years overseeing safe deposit box and title operations. Scoggins is a graduate of Gordon Lee High School and holds a paralegal degree. She and her husband Stan reside in LaFayette. They have two daughters, one son and five grandchild­ren.
