Ga. N'western's Lady Bobcats release their 2016 volleyball schedule.
The 2016-2017 sports season is nearly here for Georgia Northwestern.
The Lady Bobcats volleyball team will be the first to be in action this fall as they begin their season on Thursday, Aug. 27 at home at the Rossville Athletic Center (301 Williams Street) against Vance Granville Community College of North Carolina.
It will be Georgia Northwestern’s firstever meeting in any sport with the Vanguards. The match is set for 3:30 p.m. and will serve as the team’s annual Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The match will be preceded by the annual “Rumble in Rossville”, a series of matches featuring area middle school teams.
The Lady Bobcats will begin the month of September with four straight road matches against familiar opponents in the state of Tennessee.
The will travel up Lookout Mountain on Sept. 5 to face the Covenant College junior varsity squad before heading to Powell, Tenn. on Sept. 10 to square off with The Crown College. Sept. 12 will see them head to Madisonville to battle Hiwassee College before a Sept. 19 date in Dayton against the Bryan College JV squad.
They will finally be back at home in Rossville on Sept. 26 for a rematch with The Crown College, but will
open October back on the road with an Oct. 1 date against Oakwood University in Huntsville, Ala.
Two nights later (Oct. 3), Hiwassee and the Bryan JV will come to Rossville for a tri-match starting at 6 p.m. That night will also serve as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Night in Rossville.
Another tri-match, this one in Nashville, Tenn., will take place on Oct. 8 when the Lady Bobcats join Boyce College of Louisville, Ky. for a series of matches at Welch College.
Georgia Northwestern will close out the regular season with two final home matches. They will entertain the Covenant JV team on Oct. 10 before Oakwood pays a return trip to Rossville on Oct. 17. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
