Call for Day of Caring projects
United Way asks nonprofit organizations to consider submitting a project proposal for the United Way Volunteer Center’s 27th annual Day of Caring.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, hundreds of volunteers from local businesses and communities will partner with United Way’s Volunteer Center and other area nonprofit organizations to serve local neighborhoods through work on community-based projects.
The center needs help to find unique volunteer projects where willing volunteers can serve and make the most impact in one day. Nonprofit (501c3) organizations are invited to submit a project need to United Way’s Volunteer Center. More than one project proposal may be submitted (and may be accepted) but each request must be submitted separately.
Go to UnitedWayWCD.org to fill out a proposal online or to download a proposal form. The deadline for submission is Friday, Aug. 5. All project proposal information and forms may be found online at UnitedWayWCD.org or by calling 423-752-0316.
In 2015, approximately 500 community volunteers worked to complete more than 45 projects at 39 nonprofit agencies, schools and recreation centers in roughly six to eight hours.
Agency must provide proper tools and materials for projects, the project should be able to be completed in one day, it must have an agency representative assigned to supervise and work with volunteers, must not involve hazardous materials, should benefit the community as a whole, and agency agrees to provide lunch, drinks and snacks for the volunteers.
Teams as well as individual volunteers are recruited. For more information call Anna Baker with United Way’s Volunteer Center at 423-752-0316 or email her at annabaker@uwchatt.org.
