Youth fall sports sign-ups taking place in LaFayette

The LaFayette Parks and Recreation Department is currently holding fall youth sports sign-ups, nightly starting at 5 p.m., through Aug. 6 at the LaFayette Recreation Center.

Football is being offered for kids, ages 5-11 (kids must be five years old before May 1, 2016). The fee is $100 per player, which includes a jersey, pants and socks. Helmets and shoulder pads that are issued must be returned at the end of the season.

Cheerleadi­ng is being offered for kids, ages 5-12 (kids must be five years old before May 1, 2016). The fee is $100 per child, which includes a uniform with bloomers, socks and poms. A free cheer camp will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Soccer is being offered for kids, ages 4-13 (kids must be four years old before Jan. 1, 2017). The fee is $50 per player, which includes a jersey, shorts and socks. A preseason jamboree will be held prior to the regular season. Dates and times have yet to be announced.

Soccer sign-ups in Chickamaug­a

After several years of hiatus, the Chickamaug­a Recreation Associatio­n will be offering youth soccer again this fall to kids, ages 5-13.

Sign-ups are being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11 a..m.-1 p.m., through Aug. 6 in the meeting room above the concession stand at Dan McNally Field.

Free youth sports camp

First Baptist Church of Chickamaug­a (603 West 7th Street) will be hosting a free, three-day sports camp, July 2628, for kids ages four-years-old through the sixth grade.

Sports and other physical activities will be held each day from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to help get kids ready for the upcoming school year.

GNTC Golf Tourney

Georgia Northweste­rn Technical College will hold the 18th annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Barnsley Resort Course in Adairsvill­e.

Proceeds from the tournament will help provide academic scholarshi­ps and financial assistance to those in need and make it possible for students to attain their educationa­l goals.

Sponsorshi­ps and golf ball drop raffle tickets are available.
