Youth fall sports sign-ups taking place in LaFayette
The LaFayette Parks and Recreation Department is currently holding fall youth sports sign-ups, nightly starting at 5 p.m., through Aug. 6 at the LaFayette Recreation Center.
Football is being offered for kids, ages 5-11 (kids must be five years old before May 1, 2016). The fee is $100 per player, which includes a jersey, pants and socks. Helmets and shoulder pads that are issued must be returned at the end of the season.
Cheerleading is being offered for kids, ages 5-12 (kids must be five years old before May 1, 2016). The fee is $100 per child, which includes a uniform with bloomers, socks and poms. A free cheer camp will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Soccer is being offered for kids, ages 4-13 (kids must be four years old before Jan. 1, 2017). The fee is $50 per player, which includes a jersey, shorts and socks. A preseason jamboree will be held prior to the regular season. Dates and times have yet to be announced.

Soccer sign-ups in Chickamauga
After several years of hiatus, the Chickamauga Recreation Association will be offering youth soccer again this fall to kids, ages 5-13.
Sign-ups are being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11 a..m.-1 p.m., through Aug. 6 in the meeting room above the concession stand at Dan McNally Field.
Free youth sports camp
First Baptist Church of Chickamauga (603 West 7th Street) will be hosting a free, three-day sports camp, July 2628, for kids ages four-years-old through the sixth grade.
Sports and other physical activities will be held each day from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to help get kids ready for the upcoming school year.

GNTC Golf Tourney
Georgia Northwestern Technical College will hold the 18th annual J.D. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Barnsley Resort Course in Adairsville.
Proceeds from the tournament will help provide academic scholarships and financial assistance to those in need and make it possible for students to attain their educational goals.
Sponsorships and golf ball drop raffle tickets are available.
