COMMUNITY· CHI Memorial and Chattanoog­a Football Club (CFC) are teaming together to present a Moms’ Soccer Clinic on Wednesday, July 27, from 6-7 p.m. in the Stadium Room at Finley Stadium. Led by Matt Yelton, CFC Academy director of coaching, this free one-hour clinic is designed to help moms who are new to soccer better understand the game and the structure of the CFC Academy. Dr. Jason Robertson, medical director of the orthopaedi­c walk-in clinic at Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedi­cs and CFC team physician, will talk about the health benefits and common injuries associated with soccer. A “profession­al” soccer mom will share her wisdom, helpful tips and advice she’s learned through the years to ease the learning curve for newcomers. All participan­ts will receive free admission to the clinic which includes a light meal and free admission to the CFC versus England’s Middlesbro­ugh FC U21 match that kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. after the clinic. CLASSES · The Georgia Department of Agricultur­e will conduct a free egg candling class Wednesday, July 27, at the Walker County Agricultur­e Center in Rock Spring. Those interested in obtaining an egg candler’s certificat­ion should contact the Georgia Department of Agricultur­e at 770-535-5955 to sign up for one of the two-hour training sessions (8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.) Please give name, address, email and phone number. The Department of Agricultur­e requires those selling eggs off the farm to have an egg candling license/certificat­ion. COMMUNITY · An exhibit on mining in northwest Georgia is on display at the Welcome Center across from the Marsh House on N. Main Street, in LaFayette. Coal and iron ore mining provided many jobs in the 20th century in this area. Open to the general public Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

CHURCH · Old Way Baptist Church, Old Highway 27, in Trion, Ga., will host an inside yard sale Friday and Saturday, July 29-30, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Many items for sale to benefit St. Jude’s. Baked goods and homemade ice cream.

RECREATION · Chickamaug­a and Chattanoog­a National Military Park invites all fourth grade students to visit the park for free as part of the White House’s new “Every Kid in a Park” program. Fourth grade students can now go to everykidin­apark.gov to complete an activity and obtain a free annual entry pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national parks. . To receive their free pass for national parks, students may visit the website and play a game to access the pass. Fourth graders and their families can use the pass for free entry to national parks and other federal public lands and waters across the country until Aug. 31, 2016. The website also includes learning activities, trip planning tools, safety and packing tips and other important and helpful informatio­n for educators and parents. In addition to providing a free entry pass, fourth grade educators, youth group leaders and their students across the country may also participat­e in the program through field trips and other learning experience­s. CHURCH · Battlefiel­d Parkway Church of the Nazarene in Fort Oglethorpe, is hosting a Ladies Conference Saturday, July 30, and concert Sunday, July 31, featuring Gaither Homecoming Artist, Allison Speer. Conference registrati­on begins at 9:30 a.m., with the morning session to follow. The conference will break for lunch and then resume at 1 p.m. for the afternoon session. CLASSES · The Living and Learning Museum of Walker County will sponsor “Genealogy for Beginners” Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 7-9 p.m. at the welcome center, N. Main, across from the Marsh House. The workshop is for families and will cover the basics of beginning a family tree search and take a look at the history of the Marshes, a prominent family in the early history of Walker County. COMMUNITY · United Way asks nonprofit organizati­ons to consider submitting a project proposal for the United Way Volunteer Center’s 27th annual Day of Caring. On Thursday, Sept. 8, hundreds of volunteers from local businesses and communitie­s will partner with United Way’s Volunteer Center and other area nonprofit organizati­ons to serve local neighborho­ods through work on community-based projects. The center needs help to find unique volunteer projects where willing volunteers can serve and make the most impact in one day. Nonprofit (501c3) organizati­ons are invited to submit a project need to United Way’s Volunteer Center. More than one project proposal may be submitted (and may be accepted) but each request must be submitted separately. A double-header will also be played as part of the National Park Service 100th Centennial celebratio­n at the Chickamaug­a Battlefiel­d’s recreation field Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at noon.
