Shirley Gail Slaten Wilks, 81 Rossville
Shirley Gail Slaten Wilks, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016. She was 81.
She was born in Dekalb County, Ala., to the late Henry and Ethel Estelle Wilkes Slaten.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant sibling; sisters, Willodean Davis, Inez Oliver, Audrey Slaten and Melba Fowler; brothers, Floyd Slaten, Verbon Slaten, Paul Slaten, Bobby Slaten and Henry Slaten Jr.
Survivors include: Her husband of 65 years, James Edward Wilks; sons, Jackie (Laura) Wilks of Monument, Colo., Randy J. (MaryAnn) Wilks of Rock Spring, Ga.; sister, Katherine Ray of Albertville, Ala.; grandchildren, Sarah (Bryce) Fiacco, Courtney (Ben) McNamara, Kari Rogers, Kadi Rogers, Kaci Rogers; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Carter and Kason Fiacco, Weston and Charlotte McNamara; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, Aug. 21, after 1 p.m. in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel.
Funeral service: Sunday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend Eddie Cantrell officiating.
A private family burial will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park, Rossville.
