Saddle Ridge spikers split with Catoosa foes

The Saddle Ridge Lady Mustangs varsity volleyball squad took one on the chin last Tuesday night with a 25-17, 25-8 home loss to Heritage in North Georgia Athletic Conference play.

Imani Cook paced the Saddle Ridge offense with four kills to go with one blocks and one dig. Colby Charland had three kills, two blocks and one dig, while Brooklyn Hudson had three aces and three digs.

Sydney Jones collected six assists and two digs. Kailey Boulware had two assists and one dig. Maddie Moore finished with two digs. Chloe Day added a dig and a kill, while Alexis Fleet and Kayci Brackett had one ace apiece.

The Lady Mustangs junior varsity team was able to slip past the Lady Generals in three set. Saddle Ridge lost the first set, 25-22, but won the second, 25-23, before a 15-13 win in the third-set tiebreaker.

Justice Devlin had five kills, three aces and an assist in the win. Winter Johnson collected four kills, four aces and an assist, while Samantha Cramer had six aces, three assists and two kills.

Other standouts included Daisy Felipe (5 aces, 2 assists, 2 kills), Natalee McClain (2 aces, 2 kills), Brylee Durham (2 aces, 2 kills, 3 digs), Markella Johnson (4 digs, 2 kills), Jaden Tucker had (2 kills) and Kaitlyn Helton and Amylia Kelley (2 digs each).

Saddle Ridge sweeps at Lakeview

The Lady Mustangs got back on the winning track this past Thursday afternoon with a 25-18, 25-15 win at Lakeview in an NGAC match.

Cook paced the offense with eight kills and led the defensive charge with two blocks. Hudson picked up five kills to go with two aces. Brackett had four kills, two aces and two digs, while Jones had three kills and recorded nine assists. Charland helped out by serving up seven aces to go with nine assists and a pair of kills.

Other standouts included Maddie Moore (6 digs, 2 assists, 1 ace), Fleet (2 digs), Ashley Rawlston (2 kills, 2 digs, 2 assists) and Day (1 ace, 1 dig).

The JV squad opened the night with a nearly identical 25-18, 25-14 victory over the Lady Warriors.

Cramer racked up six aces to go with two kills. Devlin had four aces and three kill, while Felipe added four aces, two assists and a kill. McClain had three aces and two kills, followed by Helton with three aces and two digs.

Also contributi­ng for Saddle Ridge was Johnson (2 assists, 2 digs, 1 kill, 1 ace), Durham (2 aces, 2 digs, 2 kills), Johnson (3 kills, 1 dig) and Kelley (2 digs).

Saddle Ridge will ride to Ringgold on Tuesday for a date with Ringgold, starting with the JV match at 4:30 p.m. They will go back on the road Thursday for a showdown at Gordon Lee.
