Charles Lee Ballard, 78 Rossville

Charles Lee Ballard, of Rossville, Ga., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016. He was 78.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia areas and was a member of Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ.

He was employed with U.S. Pipe for many years as a machinist and was a Navy veteran.

Charles enjoyed mowing lawns and landscapin­g. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Tennessee Vols Football fan.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Thelma Ballard and two sisters, Glenda Collins and Doris Assman.

Survivors include: His loving wife of more than 55 years, Edna Cox Ballard of Rossville; children, Carla (Rodney) Smith of Trenton, Ga., Amy Stanley of Rossville and Josh Ballard of Chattanoog­a, Tenn.; two sisters, Joyce (LeBron) Hixon of Rossville and Linda Jett of Hixson, Tenn.; three grandchild­ren, Fallon Gant, Adam Gravitt and Branton Phillips; eight great-grandchild­ren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation: Saturday, Aug. 27, after 4 p.m. and prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services: Sunday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Bro. C.G. Griffith officiatin­g.

Entombment: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
