New Salem Mountain Festival set for Oct. 8-9
The 42nd annual New Salem Mountain Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8-9. Perched atop Lookout Mountain at 12477 Highway 136 between Trenton and LaFayette, the event promises exhibits of talented artists and craftsmen throughout the South.
Hours are 10. a.m.-6.p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, children 11 and under free. Parking is free.
Over 100 vendors include paintings, pottery, iron works, wood carvings, wood turning, furniture, woodwork, soap, jewelry, dolls, bird houses, wreaths and floral arrangements, candles, needlework, gourds, clothing, crochet, home décor, jams & jellies, quilting demonstration and more. The “Mountain Gallery” will have a unique collection of specially selected work from each exhibitor.
New Salem United Methodist Church will offer home cooked food at the main food booth and you can find lots of snack items including fudge, peanut brittle, funnel cakes, caramel apples, nacho’s, boiled and roasted peanuts, kettle corn and cotton candy throughout the festival.
Entertainment will be provided throughout each day. The kids will be able to enjoy mule driven wagon rides by Kate the mule. Door prizes donated by exhibitors will be given away throughout each day
The festival is sponsored by the New Salem Community Improvement Club and staffed by volunteers. All proceeds benefit the New Salem Community Center and New Salem Fire and Rescue.
