LaFayette spikers split at Heritage

The LaFayette Lady Ramblers will be the No. 4 seed when the Area 6-4A tournament gets underway on Thursday.

Last Tuesday at Heritage, the Orangeand-Black began their night with a 25-19, 2725 win over Southeast Whitfield, thanks to 22 assists and three kills by Jade Maggard and 11 kills, two blocks and two aces from Karrisa Tatum. Gracie Stier (5 kills), Katie Dixon (4 kills) and Jillian Morgan (2 kills) contribute­d in the victory.

LaFayette would later fall to Heritage, 25-12, 25-18, as the Lady Generals clinched the No. 1 seed.

Maggard finished with 13 assists and a kill. Tatum added six kills and an ace. Stier had six kills and two aces.

Morgan had two kills and Dixon had one kill. Timerra Bell led the Lady Ramblers with a team-high 22 digs on the night.

LaFayette, looking to build up momentum for the upcoming area, picked up a tri-match sweep at Coahulla Creek this past Thursday.

The Lady Ramblers opened with a 25-12, 19-25, 25-23 win over Sonoravill­e before taking down the host Lady Colts, 25-17, 25-20.

Tatum had 19 kills, 13 digs, four blocks and two aces on the evening. Maggard finished with 47 assists, 11 digs, four kills and an ace, while Dixon continued her strong recent play with 12 kills, 15 digs and two aces.

Stier collected nine digs, five kills, two digs and an ace. Morgan had 14 kills on the night, while Bell added 23 digs and a pair of aces.

Emily Redden had four digs, three assists, a block and a kill. Malin Thorsen had six digs and two aces, while Kensly Baugh picked up two kills.

LaFayette (22-18) is scheduled to conclude the regular season on Tuesday as they join Lumpkin County for a tri-match at Fannin County.
