12 county players named All-Region in 6-4A

A total of 12 Walker County softball players earned 6-4A AllRegion honors this past Wednesday as the region’s coaches released its All-Region teams.

Senior Morgan Crawford and junior Haley Sandridge were named to the first team from regular season champion Ridgeland, while senior Kayleigh Goff and freshman Madison Pettigrew were selected to the first team from LaFayette.

Ridgeland had three players named to the second team — senior Allison Wallin and freshmen Ciera and Kiera Foster — while LaFayette’s second team selections were seniors Hannah Blevins and Madison Harris and freshman Nicky Yancy.

Honorable mention honors went to Ridgeland senior Cortney Mooneyham and LaFayette’s Jada Allmon.

The rest of the first team includes Gilmer’s Taylor Boling and Karli Loudermilk, Heritage’s Ali Roberts, Ansley Bice, Morgan Parris and Shayla Ludy, Northwest’s Molly Middleton and Alyssa Ward and Pickens’ Kaitlin Redman, Shae Chadwick, Olivia Jacobs and Ellie Abner.

The rest of the second team includes Gilmer’s Hannah Bennett, Madison Carver and Katlin Dale, Heritage’s Mallory Lowe, Madi Morris and Sydney Smith, Northwest’s Kayleigh Fitzgerald and Brittany Ogle, Pickens’ Grace Topper and Southeast’s Madison Pearson and Sidney Swantic.

Other honorable mentions picks included Gilmer’s Brittani Ballew, Heritage’s Taelyn Bates, Northwest’s Caitie Parsons and Jolene Gale, Pickens’ Laura Henke and Southeast’s Lindsey Shelton.

Crawford was named as the region’s Pitcher of Year, while Loudermilk was tabbed as the region’s Player of Year.
