Ardie Deene Moore, 71 Rossville

Ardie Deene Moore, of Rossville, Ga., went home to be with his Lord Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was surrounded by his family who he was so proud of. He was 71.

Ardie was born in Hagerstown, Md., Jan. 2, 1945. He was a loving husband, father and granddaddy. He loved fishing, football, the beach, studying the weather, stock marketing and most of all, his family.

He graduated from East Ridge High School and later attended Middle Tennessee University, receiving a bachelor’s degree.

He retired from Unum Provident Insurance Company, serving as an associate underwrite­r.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Harold Moore.

Survivors include: His wife of 48 years, Sandra Moore; sons, Eric (Kim) Moore and Shawn (Tina) Moore; grandchild­ren, Kalyb Holland, Hailee Moore and Nicholas Moore and his mother, Florence Moore.

Visitation: Monday, Oct. 24, from 4-8 p.m. at South Crest Chapel.

Graveside service: Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m., at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park with Rev. Joel Germany officiatin­g.

Edna Mae “Granny” Lea, 78 Rossville

Edna Mae “Granny” Lea, of Rossville, Ga., passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, in a local hospital. She was 78.

Edna was born in Soddy Daisy Tenn., May 30, 1938, to the late William and Martha Hamby. She spent the past 34 years in the Rossville area.

She was employed with Mar Mode Hosiery for 15 years as a seamstress.

Edna enjoyed going to the casinos, bowling, going on cruises, reading books, watching western movies and taking trips with her family.

She was a member of Frawley Baptist Church and St. John’s Methodist Church. Edna also volunteere­d her time at the Chattanoog­a Community Kitchen for the homeless.

Edna was a loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Lea; parents, William and Martha Hamby; three brothers, Billy, Wayne and Larry Hamby; sister, Betty Hope and son, Randy Fisher.

Survivors include: Her son, Kevin Fisher; two sisters, Patsy Pickens and Ann Batchelor; three brothers; Bobby, Bill and Donny Hamby; two granddaugh­ters, Ashley and Randi Fisher; three stepchildr­en and several step grandchild­ren.

Visitation: Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel.

Funeral service: Monday, Oct. 24, at 9 a.m. at Lane South Crest Chapel with Pastor Ken Wolfe officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Leo Eugene Carey, 93 Ringgold

Leo Eugene Carey, of Ringgold, Ga., passed quietly Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, with his wife, Patricia Yvonne (Wyatt) Carey by his side. He was 93.

Leo was born in Renton, Wash., Feb. 4, 1923.

Leo retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. After retirement, he relocated his family to northern California, where he spent the next 30 years working in the automotive industry. He then moved to north Georgia, spending his final years in both Walker and Catoosa Counties.

Survivors include: His wife; sons, Leo Carey Jr., of Ore., Michael Carey, Dennis Carey, Don Carey all of Calif.; daughters, Linda O’Dell of Colo., and Jamie Williams of Ga. He was very proud of his eight grandchild­ren and multiple greatgrand­children.

Leo will be inurned at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with full military honors Monday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m.

Barbara Geraldine Holmes West, 82 Chickamaug­a

Barbara Geraldine Holmes West, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016. She was 82.

She was born in Trion, Ga., to the late Homer Henry and Agnes Lucille Parker Holmes.

She worked at Jeffe’s Shoe Store in Rossville, Ga., Red Food Store and Goodlet’s Grocery Store in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.

She attended The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in LaFayette, Ga.

She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchild­ren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Bruce.

Survivors include: Her husband of 65 years, Jesse Calvin West Jr., of Chickamaug­a; their children, Jesse Calvin West, III of Paducah, Ky., Jena Diann Smallwood
