LaFayette makes a PRIDE initiative

way down to state level, county level, city level,” he said. “It all trickles down to us. What I feel like, really what we are asking people to do, is to be proud of their community, to be involved and take pride in their community. Even if we can’t make America great again, or if people can’t make Georgia great, even if you feel like that is too much, can we just see if we can make LaFayette great. Can we have pride in LaFayette? And a lot of that is respect and a lot of that has to do with the government’s not just going to get respect because we demand it. We are going to get respect because we respect the citizens and note that that goes both ways,” Bradford said.

PRIDE is where the city is taking neighborhood revitalization up a notch and using the slogan as a brand for LaFayette.

The city hopes the residents, the local corporations and small businesses will adopt the initiative as well.

“Protect what we have got,” Bradford said. “Don’t let it fall into waste, disrepair, or ruin. We want to revitalize. There is obviously a lot of areas that we can go back and say, ‘this was great once and we are going to make it great again.’ We are going to invest. We want to invest the city’s resources, city’s time, the city’s money, and city’s manpower. We want other people to invest their energy, time and money. To develop and ultimately we do all of these things so that we can enjoy, because that is part of it. If you don’t enjoy being here, it is all for not.”

Bradford said using the term, “My LaFayette, Georgia” is part of that pride.

“I want the city and the citizens to claim the city and say, ‘this is my LaFayette’ and once you start saying ‘My LaFayette,’ then maybe there is a drive there to be invested in that. To want to make it better and participate and claim it. It’s all of ours.”
