NGAC Girls’ Basketball: Chattanooga Valley out to a 3-1 start
The Chattanooga Valley Middle School Lady Eagles will take a 3-1 record into the Thanksgiving break after wins over Gordon Lee and LaFayette last week.
CVMS girls 30, Gordon Lee 27
Emma McGraw scored 11 points and the Lady Eagles knocked off the Lady Trojans during a league game in Flintstone last Tuesday.
Sydney Davis added six points for the Lady Eagles. Cordasia Watkins grabbed eight rebounds, while Carley Yarbrough pulled down four boards.
Emma Minghini was 7 of 10 from the free throw line and paced the Lady Trojans with 13 points. Ashlyn Schmidt finished with five points. Emoree Rogers had three, while Sidney Gasaway, Emma Langston and Marianne Beliveau added two each.
CVMS girls 33, LaFayette 26
The Lady Eagles rallied from a six-point deficit with just over three minutes to play in the fourth quarter before picking up an overtime home win over LaFayette on Thursday.
McGraw had 13 points for CVMS. Davis finished with six points, while Ally Grace Thomas and Jenna Morgan had four points apiece.
Aubrey Blankenship led LaFayette with a dozen points, followed by Kaitlyn Pendergrass with seven and Tucker with five.

Gordon Lee girls 39, Rossville 12
Maddison Farrow had 10 points as the Lady Trojans evened up their record at 2-2 on Thursday. Minghini, Rogers and Addison Sturdivant had eight points each. Langston finished with three and Gasaway added two.
Individual statistics for the Lady Bulldogs (0-4) were not provided as of press time.
The Lady Mustangs saw their seasonopening winning streak snapped a two after a tough loss in a NGAC divisional game last Tuesday night in Ringgold.
LaTyah Barber had 18 points, nine rebounds and eight steals for the Lady Mustangs, while Mykeria Johnson picked up eight points, two rebounds and two steals. Grace Hamilton had three points on a 3-pointer and added one rebound and a steal.
Other contributors for Saddle Ridge included Madi Ashley (2 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal) and Sam Cramer (2 points, 2 rebounds).
Heritage girls 32, Saddle Ridge 30
The Lady Mustangs had the ball with four seconds to play on Thursday, but couldn’t get the tying or potential go-ahead bucket as the Lady Generals escaped Rock Spring with the win.
Johnson led the way for the Saddle Ridge (2-2) with 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Barber collected seven points, seven rebounds, nine steals and a block, while Hamilton had four points, four boards and a pair of steals.

Saddle Ridge JV girls 6, Trion 5
The Lady Mustangs did their part to make it a home sweep with a victory in a defensive battle last week.
Tied at halftime, Trion forged a one-point lead going into the fourth quarter and held it into the final minute. But with 40 seconds left to play, Haynie Jane Gilstrap sunk two clutch free throws to give Saddle Ridge the lead for good.
Gilstrap had a teamhigh four points and a team-high six steals for the Lady Mustangs. Lexie Baker added six rebounds and three steals. Abby Sansing chipped in with seven rebounds and two points, while Ashlynn McConathy had three boards and two steals.
Heritage JV girls 38, Saddle Ridge 9
The junior varsity Lady Mustangs went down to defeat on Thursday. McConathy had six points in the loss, while Haven Yancy added six steals.
