United Way campaign in North Georgia reaches halfway point
As the annual community campaign moves forward, United Way in Walker, Catoosa and Dade Counties has been asking local citizens to join the Social Network for Social Good in North Georgia.
United Way in Walker, Catoosa and Dade Counties held its eighth annual North Georgia Campaign Kickoff at a breakfast meeting at the Walker County Civic Center, presided over by 2016 North Georgia campaign chair Rhonda Beasley, human resources manager for Roper Corporation in LaFayette, Ga.
Beasley reported businesses, local governments and individuals donated $573,487 to United Way in Walker, Catoosa and Dade Counties last year, but said she and the rest of the North Georgia campaign advisory committee felt confident that Walker, Catoosa and Dade Counties can make the 2016 goal of $580,000.
To date, $283,275 has been raised in North Georgia towards the overall regional campaign goal of $11 million. North Georgia has reached 49 percent of its campaign goal of $580,000 with only Shaw Industries reporting so far. Roper’s campaign is still ongoing. The regional campaign has raised $3,500,000 at this time.
It is important to note that funds raised in North Georgia from contributions to United Way in Walker, Catoosa and Dade Counties’ annual campaign will stay in North Georgia to ensure residents directly benefit from local dollars.
