The Lady Trojans held Coahulla Creek to single digits in all four quarters this past Wednesday and beat the Class AAA Lady Colts in the opening round.

Cohulla Creek led 6-4 after a low-scoring first quarter, but a Faith Alexander 3-pointer with 2:30 left in the first half capped a 7-0 Gordon Lee run and gave the Lady Trojans the lead for good.

The Navy-and-White led 15-11 at intermission and kept Coahulla Creek at bay for the rest of the afternoon, picking up their third victory of the year against the Lady Colts of Whitfield County.

Molly Thomison had a game-high 16 points for Gordon Lee, followed by Lexie Clark with six and Gracey Kruse with five.

Allie Young had 13 points and Lily Snyder 10 for Coahulla Creek.

But the Dragonettes would score half of their 30 fourth-quarter points at the charity stripe in the final eight minutes, allowing them to seal the victory.

Myskenzie Weaver scored 17 for Pickens, while Ashley Nelson finished with 13.

Freshman Gracie O’Neal poured in a game-high and a careerhigh 19 for Gordon Lee. Abby Dalton and Thomison each scored eight, while Alexander added seven and Sam Belue six.
