Tony Ray Campbell, of Chickamaug­a, Ga., passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. He was 54.

Tony was born in Chattanoog­a, Tenn. and served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was an employee of Sears & Roebuck for the

past 21 years.

He was a devoted husband, father and Poppi that enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Rossville, Ga.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Campbell; step-father, Bill McDowell; brother, Gary Ray Campbell; sister, Tammy Diane Sissy Tacy and fatherin-law, Tom Skipper.

Survivors include: His wife and best friend, Renee Skipper Campbell of Chickamaug­a, Ga.; their sons, U.S. Air Force Ssgt, Blake (Stormi) Campbell of Brandon, England, Alex Campbell of Chickamaug­a, Ga.; granddaugh­ters, Lilly and Amelia Campbell of Brandon, England; mother, Carolyn Diane Osborne McDowell; brothers, Wendell Terrell and Carlton Terrell all of Chickamaug­a, Ga.; sister, Andrea Campbell of Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the service.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Jan. 4, at noon in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Brother Mike Keith officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Julia Kathryn Frye, 51, of Chickamaug­a

Julia Kathryn Frye, of Chickamaug­a passed away December 29, 2016 surrounded by her longtime friends, Christy Kennett and Patsy Boyd. She was 51.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Miles and Sara Foster Miles; sister, and Emily Miles Kelley.

Survivors are fiancé, Mackey Pyburn; aunt, Mary F. Thompson; cousins, Amelia T. Eubanks and Laura T. Allen; brother-in-law, Ray Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.

Regis Ann McGhee Jay, 87, Ringgold

Regis Ann McGhee Jay, of Ringgold, Georgia went to her eternal home on Friday, December 30, 2016. She was 87.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, she was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church.

She worked with her husband, who was the love of her life since age 15, at his grocery store. She later retired from Babb Lumber Company.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Doc Jay; her parents, Marvin McGhee and Ina McGhee; and siblings, Betty Land and Leonard McGhee.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie (Steve) Anderson; son, Chuck (Cathy) Jay; grandchild­ren, Matthew and Benjamin Sandidge, Adam and Hannah Jay.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Rosewood Memory Care and Assisted Living and Tapestry Hospice for all they done for Regis and the family.

The family received friends Monday from 1-4 P.M. at the funeral home.

Elsie Mae Nunley Disheroon, 89, Rossville

Elsie Mae Nunley Disheroon, of Rossville, Georgia passed away peacefully, Friday December 30, 2016. She was 89.

Mrs. Disheroon was a very devoted Christian woman, who at every moment of her life, spoke of our Lord and Savior. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Rossville, GA.

She loved to cook, sew, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchild­ren.

She graduated from Grundy County High School in 1948. After graduation, she moved to Rossville, and got married.

Mrs. Disheroon was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Sebe Edward Disheroon; parents, Charles Edward and Carrie Bell Parsons Nunley; brother, Charles William Nunley, and sisters, Anne Bell Nunley Hanley, Carlene Nunley Smartt and Thelma Nunley Davidson.

Mrs. Disheroon is survived by her son Terry (Jan) Disheroon of Ringgold; granddaugh­ter, Misty (Philip) King of Rock Spring; grandson, Chason (Nikita) Disheroon of Waco, TX.; great granddaugh­ters, Brooklyn Raye King and Adalyn Mae King of Rock Spring; sisters, Mary Ellen Nunley (Thomas) Rollins of Altamount, and Jewel Nunley Stewart of Tracy City; and special nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Monday from3-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 9 A.M. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Thomas D. Shipp, 77, Ringgold

Thomas D. Shipp, Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord, Monday January 2, 2017. He was 77.

He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and attended Covenant Presbyteri­an Church in East Brainerd.

Mr. Shipp was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War and was retired from North American Royalties Wheland Foundry Division.

Thomas was a member of Wheels of Time Car Club and The American Foundrymen Associatio­n.

Survivors are his loving wife of 37 years Maureen Malone Shipp; daughter Pam ( Tim ) Duvall of Calhoun, GA; son Jeff Shipp of Mt. Juliet, TN; step daughter Marianne ( Chris) Greene of Ringgold; stepson Dr. James Hart of Mobile, AL; brother Jay Shipp of Fort Oglethorpe; sister Brenda Gail Accornero of Weavervill­e, NC grandchild­ren Cortney McEntyre, Candace Mason, Kelsey Shipp, TJ Shipp, Nathan, Hannah Faith and Trinity Greene; four great grandchild­ren and two nephews survive.

Marcell Duncan, 86, Rossville

Marcell Duncan, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on January 2, 2017, at Hartwell Health and Rehabilita­tion Center in Hartwell, Georgia. She was 86.

Born April 30, 1930 in Trenton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and the late Aubrey Blevins.

She was a member of Simpson Memorial Methodist Church in Rossville, Georgia and was retired from Coats America with 28 years of service.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Roger Duncan of Lavonia, Georgia; daughter, Deborah Duncan Farrington of San Diego, California; halfsister, Laura Wooten of Henagar, Alabama as well as seven grandchild­ren and six great grandchild­ren.

Family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Thursday.

Thomas Howard Thompson, 79, Rock Spring

Thomas Howard Thompson, of Rock Spring, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 79.

The son of the late Vera and John Thompson, Tom (as he most often was called) was born August 5, 1937 in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Tom was a proud Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne, serving as a paratroope­r and military police.

Tom was a member of Peavine Baptist Church, graduated from University of Tennessee Chattanoog­a and held the position of Controller and Chief Financial Officer at several organizati­ons throughout his career.

Tom was dedicated to family, and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and James Thompson, and sister Sharon Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Thompson of Rock Spring, GA; children & spouses, Susan & (Charles) Stanley of Cumming, GA, Tim & (Becky) Thompson of Gainesvill­e, GA, and Rachel Thompson of Delray Beach, FL.; stepchildr­en Melanie & (Anthony) Underwood and Jonathan Kay, and step-grandchild­ren Brady and Haley Underwood, motherin-law, Christine Davis and adorable pet Sophie.

She was previously employed with Chattanoog­a Box Company for many years and enjoyed cooking AND spending time with her family and friends.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford & Victoria Mewborn; brother, Junior Mewborn and sisters, Daisy Vaughn and Irene Taylor.

Franklin Delano Nichols, of Summervill­e went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 1, 2017. He was 81.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Church of God faith.

He was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed hunting & fishing.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r and great grandfathe­r who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Bessie Nichols and several siblings.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 14 years, Carolyn Jean Stacks Nichols of Summervill­e, GA; children, Derrell, Nancy & Tammy Nichols; four stepchildr­en; brothers & sisters-in-law, Henry & Virginia Nichols, Cecil & Betty Nichols and Leroy & Nell Nichols and Catherine Rich; several grandchild­ren; several great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dewey Lee James, 79, Fort Oglethorpe

Dewey Lee James, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in a local hospital. He was 79.

Mr. James was born on June 13, 1937 to the late Walter and Louise James. He has lived in the North Georgia area for over 50 years.

Mr. James was the owner/operator of Precision Transmissi­on for over 20 years and was ASE certified in all aspects of the automotive industry. Prior to owning his own business, Mr. James was a police officer with Lookout Mountain Georgia Police Department.

He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the Harvesters Sunday School Class.

Mr. James loved fishing, camping, motor cycles, cars and collecting pocket knives. He was known for his unique wit and sense of humor. He loved his Lord, his family and his French Poodle Beau. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Hoyt L. Junior James and one sister, Maxine.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Catherine Ann James; daughter, Robin James; son, Patrick James and wife Kelly; grandsons Bobby, Ricky, and Michael James; he also loved his special long- time friend and designated/ adopted son, Larry Atchley.
