Ridgeland High Riflery Team earns donation to trust fund
Ridgeland High School’s Riflery Team was thrilled to learn that the Georgia Youth Shooting Sports Foundation (GYSSF) will be donating $8,000 to Ridgeland’s endowment trust fund, managed by the MidwayUSA Foundation.
The GYSSF was established in 2013 to provide funding for Youth Shooting Sports programs in Georgia. GYSSA accomplishes this by raising funds in various ways, but primarily in cooperation with the MidwayUSA Foundation.
“We’ve been watching Ridgeland’s fundraising efforts throughout the year and we wanted to help reward all the hard work they were doing. I only wish it were more,” said GYSSA spokesman, Roy McClain.
“We are so thankful for organizations like GYSSF and the MidwayUSA Foundation, who are truly making a huge difference in youth shooting sports,” said Ridgeland coach Carl Gentry. “Our goal is to reach out to caring individuals and organizations in our community who believe in youth shooting sports to raise $60,000 in 2017.
“The MidwayUSA Foundation will match all donations made to Ridgeland’s account with a two-to-one ratio for the entire year, thus tripling all donations. Reaching our goal this year would mean that our Riflery team would get $12,000 each year, forever, and be selfsustaining.”
Anyone wishing to make a donation is encouraged to go to midwayusafoundation.org and choose Ridgeland High as the recipient. For more information, contact Coach Gentry at (706) 820-7131.
