Going From Good to Great… ever heard that saying?
“If you always do what you have always done, you will always be what you have always been” That isn’t always a bad thing…for example, Walker County has always been a good place to live, but it is beginning to look like a great place to live.
I am seeing the transformation of the cities, the people and the attitudes go from good to great as I work with all different businesses, city and county organizations and individuals. I am blessed to get to help bring one of my passions as a cyclist to our area. This will be the first time to have such an event to ride through our small towns and throughout our county. This is an event we can call “ours”. It isn’t an event passing through or hanging here for a day or so, it is Our event! It is an event to reach all ages and all levels of cyclists from beginners to experienced riders. Not only has it been great working with the city of LaFayette as the host city, but it has been great working with Chickamauga and Rock City and others on this adventure.
What I have learned so far is that our cities are ready for change. They are eager to bring the “new” ideas and activities into our cities to take them from good to great!
I love the fact that this event is to “Make a difference in the lives of our children”. All the proceeds go to help reduce the cost of activity registrations at the LaFayette Parks and Recreations to all families. It can be hard for families to keep their children doing sports throughout the year because of the cost to these families, especially when they have more than one child wanting to participate. And many of us know and understand that the more positive activities they can be involved with as they grow up, the better their chances of staying out of trouble later. This is the community’s way of keeping more children involved in community activities and in turn hoping to set the stage for making their lives better.
If you don’t understand why this is in a real estate connection article, then I will explain why it is important to me.
The more our communities embrace change and growth through activities offered, the happier and healthier our community will be. If our community is happy, others will see and want to come to a great place to live, play and work. When they come, they bring more resources to give back such as their time, money and knowledge. It is a win-win situation. Great active communities bring great active people which leads to great communities, great neighborhoods and great attitudes.
I am excited we are continually growing toward greatness! See you at all the new events this year!
