The halftime speech OCA head coach Wayne McDonough gave his team at halftime was short and to the point: “get the ball inside”.

And in the Eagles did just that.

The Eagles, who led the visitors by just one, 17-16, to start the second half, poured it on in the final 16 minutes to send the Bulldogs back to Tunnel Hill with a loss last Tuesday.

Matthew McDonough had 24 of his 28 points in the second half to spur the rally. With his team up 27-24 late in the third, he hit a 3-pointer with 1:06 left to spark a 7-0 run. Woody Hass hit a runner from the baseline and, after a Bulldog miss, McDonough went coastto-coast between two defenders for a lay-up that boosted the lead to 34-24 with two seconds left in the quarter.

The Eagles would add to their lead in the fourth. McDonough opened the final stanza with a 3-point play and later hit a 3-pointer from the corner. When John Jacob McSpadden buried his lone trey of the game with 2:50 to go, it capped a 16-4 fourthquarter run that gave Oakwood its biggest lead of the night at 5028.

McDonough also had 11 rebounds to go with five blocked shots. Hass finished with seven points, two assists and two steals and McSpadden had five points, four assists, five steals and three boards in the win.

Other contributors included Zack Cohen (4 points, 4 rebounds), Garrison Baggett (3 points, 3 assist, 1 rebound) and Phillip Davis (2 assists).

Up by just 10 points at halftime (36-26), the Eagles held the home team to just 16 points in the second half and picked up Thursday night road win.

McDonough had another all-star caliber performance with 31 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. McSpadden dropped in 18 points to go with four assists, while Baggett had six points, nine boards and three steals.

Corey Taylor added five points and two rebounds and Cohen had four points and two rebounds. Other contributors included Hass (2 points), Davis (2 points), Andrew Phillips (1 point, 1 rebound) and D.J. Terry (1 point, 2 assists).

OCA (10-10) was scheduled to play Liberty Christian at home on Monday, but due to newspaper deadline, results were not available as of press time. The Lady Eagles will face Knoxville Christian School for Homecoming this Friday at 6 p.m. The JV Eagles will face KCS to begin the night at 4:30 p.m.
