Middle School Boys’ Basketball: GLMS wins NGAC Western Division title
The Lakeview Warriors trailed for the majority of the night last Tuesday and entered the fourth quarter down 30-25 to visiting Gordon Lee.
But the Red-andWhite would hold the Trojans to just two points in the final seven minutes and pulled off a 35-32 comeback victory.
Dee Calhoun had 10 points for the Warriors in the win, followed by Cameron Gregg, Jacob Brown and Jevonni Womble with six apiece.
Jake Poindexter had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Gordon Lee, but the nexthighest scorer for the Trojans was Cayden Powell with five points. Solmon accounted for the final two points for the Trojans.
LaFayette boys 61, Saddle Ridge 19
The Ramblers picked up the home win against the Mustangs on Eighth Grade Night last Tuesday.
Cam Porter recorded his first double-double of the season with 28 points and 13 points to go with four assists, two blocks and one steal. Lukas Dierking also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
Ben Maanum collected eight points and five rebounds. Cade Fisher finished with five points, two rebounds, a steal and a block, while JaMario Clements filled his stats sheet with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
Other contributors included Jaylon Ramsey (3 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), Aidan Hadaway (3 points, 2 assists) and Junior Barber (2 boards).
Chris Bell had seven points for Saddle Ridge, followed by Ethan Kruger with five, J.T. Cunningham with three and Gabe Kirkendoll with one.
LaFayette boys 56, Rossville 31
Ramsey had a season-high 30 points to go with 10 steals to complete the doubledouble this past Thursday. He also added five rebounds, five assists and one blocked shot for the Ramblers. Fisher followed with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, five steals and one block.
Hadaway collected eight points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the win. Maanum had four points and three rebounds. Dierking also added four points and three rebounds to go with two steals and Clements had four rebounds and added a steal.
Zack Harrison led the Bulldogs with nine points. Chance Sharpe scored six points and Tommy Lamb scored five and pulled down 16 rebounds.
Chatt. Valley boys 50, Dade County 48
The Eagles enjoyed another close victory last Tuesday as Kobe Lewis had a monster night with 20 points and 15 boards in the two-point win over the Wolverines on 8th Grade Night in Flintstone.
CVMS led 22-19 as Noah Smith beat the buzzer with a bucket to end the first half. The Eagles then added 16 points in the third quarter as Lewis and King Mason had six each in the period.
Javier Jordan hit a big 3-pointer late in the game to help secure the victory. Mason and Amarreon Turner gave the Eagles a defensive spark on the press and
each finished with nine points and six steals, while Jeremiah Turner had five points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the victory.
