Suzan Darlene Wrinkle Griffith, 62, Tunnel Hill

Suzan Darlene Wrinkle Griffith, 62, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 2, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a, North Georgia area, she was a former employee of Quinton Memorial where she worked as a CNA and was a member of West Side Missionary Baptist Church in Ringgold, Georgia. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and spreading the message of salvation for our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Suzan was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Addie Floyd Wrinkle; father-in-law, John R. Griffith Sr.; sisters Mary Maudean Wrinkle Deason and Barbara Sue Wrinkle Lanoue; brothers-inlaw, William Deason, Charles Stephens, William Griffith, Eugene Griffith; and sister-in-law, Renea Eaves.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, John R. Griffith Jr.; of Tunnel Hill, GA.; sisters, Gin (Larry) Culver of Soddy Daisy, TN., Edna (Truitt) Bonner of Harrison, TN., Lucille (Larry) Green of Chickamaug­a, GA., and Janice Stephens of Ringgold, GA.; brother, Lindsey (Patricia) Wrinkle Jr. of Soddy Daisy, TN.; mother-inlaw, Elaine Griffith of Ringgold, GA.; brotherin-law, Charles Melvin Griffith of Tunnel Hill, GA.; sisters-in-law, Diane Eaves of Tunnel Hill, GA., Teresa (Chris) Hamilton of Ringgold, GA.; her nieces and also adopted daughters Tammy (Michael) Allen of Tunnel Hill, GA., and Regina Griffith Horn of Tunnel Hill, GA..; and many other nieces and nephews.

Joe Miller Jim Jones, 85, Ringgold

Joe Miller Jim Jones, 85 of Ringgold, GA, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2017. Jim was born on May 27, 1931 in Ohatchee, AL and departed this life at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He is survived by sons, Joe (Denise) Jones, Gainesvill­e, GA, Jimmy (Susan) Jones, East Ridge, TN, and Dennis (Donna) Carter, Murfreesbo­ro, TN; and, daughter, Pam Mimbs, Cleveland, GA. Brother, Ralph (Charlotte) Jones, Ringgold, GA; grandchild­ren, Destiny, Jessica, Jennifer, Jasidy, Joseph, Jeramy, Michelle, Sherrie, Nathan, and Taylor; 22 great grandchild­ren, and many other special family, friends, and pets. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jones; parents, Joe Weaver and Eva Jones; sisters, Francis Lee Basinger, Jeraldine Jones, and Dorothy Mae Jones; and, brother, Charles Jones.

Jim was drafted during the Korean War Era, and following a brief period in the Army, he returned home and worked many years for Joys Flowers, the Catoosa County Sheriffs Department, and retired with over 45 years of service working directly with Joe Proctor and Jepco Mini Storage. During his years with Jepco, he was also a security guard for the Roller Coaster Skate Rink and Sweetwater Flea Market.

Jim did not meet a stranger; he loved spending time with his family and friends, and he enjoyed lending a helping hand. Jim loved his horses: training, riding, and trading, and he enjoyed many covered wagon horseback trail rides. In addition to his horses, he provided a home for many animals, most recently donkeys, and he enjoyed gardening, so he could share what he grew.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at New Heights Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall, 158 Ooltewah Ringgold Rd, Ringgold, GA. This will be a dropin event from 12:00 to 4:00, with prayer and remembranc­e at 12:30. Jim loved life, and the family would like for you to share in this farewell celebratio­n with them. If you are so inclined, wear your favorite western hat and shirt!

Alenda Kay Collins, 39, Rossville

Alenda Kay Collins, 39, of Rossville, GA. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. She was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a waitress at the Old Southern Restaurant for over the past ten years.

She was a very outgoing person and was active in the annual Night Out at the Park at the Rossville Duck Pond.

She was preceded in death by her grandparen­ts, Martin and Frances Collins; grandfathe­r, Charles Aulabaugh; brother, Dan Earl Collins, Jr; one cousin, Mike Wehunt.

She is survived by her parents, Danny and Coleene Collins; three children, Chasity McWhorter, Courtney McWhorter and Jessica Bond; sister, Dana (Tim) Strickland; niece, Krysten Strickland; and nephew, Daniel Strickland.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, Feb 1st 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Funeral will be held at the Graveside on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Peggy Morris Holleman

Peggy Morris Holleman passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Holleman was born to Henry Orland and Vella Cooper Morris in Lafayette, Georgia. She relocated to Tallahasse­e in 2005. She married John Lockhart Holleman in Lafayette, Georgia and raised three children. She later in life worked as a textile worker at Salem Carpets, and finally as a caregiver in various roles for adult group homes and individual­s with terminal diseases. Even in her middle stages of Alzheimer’s she was known for her compassion and care-giving to other residents and gave out hugs freely.

Memorial services will be held in her hometown of Lafayette, Georgia at a later date.

She is survived by her sister, Jessie Paul, three children, sons Douglas (Cyndi) Holleman and Bryan Holleman, daughter Mary Jane Farmer, five grandchild­ren, Jacob Holleman, Lana Holleman Remington, John Farmer, Bonnie Farmer Stephens, and Teigh-Jae Monshor; twelve greatgrand­children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deborah Dobbins Williams, 65 of Ringgold, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2017. She had lived in the Chattanoog­a & North Georgia areas for most of her life and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, making crafts and spending time with her grandchild­ren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmothe­r who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frazier & Sue Dobbins and husband, James Franklin Williams.

Survivors include her son & daughter-inlaw, Jeremy & Amanda Hale; daughter & sonin-law, Mystye & Rob Schoenekas­e; sister, Winona Trundle all of Ringgold, GA; 7 grandchild­ren and numerous extended family & friends.

Brenda Louise Childers Hester, 68

Brenda Louise Childers Hester, 68, passed away peacefully Monday morning after a brief illness. Brenda was known and loved by many for her selfless generosity and spirited personalit­y. She was a talented artist and an excellent cook who was a master of pecan and chocolate pies She was steadfastl­y devoted to her family and friends. A genuinely unique individual, Brenda was witty, friendly, and forthright.

Brenda was raised in Ringgold, and graduated from Ringgold High School in 1966. She began her working life at Zumsteins Clothing Store in Ringgold, and was a popular employee of Price Ringgold Drug Store for many years, and brightened the days and touched the lives of friends and strangers alike. She was a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church, and volunteere­d at the Christ Chapel. She loved being outdoors and collecting artifacts.

Preceded in death by her sister, Robbie and her parents, Robert and Dorothy, Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Roger Hester, daughter and son-in-law, Beth & Justin Long, precious grandson Ethan, siblings Reba (Larry) Clotfelter, Ronald Yogi (Gail) Childers, Theresa (David) McKamey, and Harris (Beverly) Childers; and many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel with Bro. Barry Suggs officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in the Anderson Memorial Gardens.

Earl Smyth Wooden, 86, Chickamaug­a

Earl Smyth Wooden, age 86 of Chickamaug­a, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017. He was born to the late Rescoe and Nelle Stephenson Wooden in Rock Spring and was a lifelong resident of the Chickamaug­a Area. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the owner/operator of Cove Road Scrap Metal. He was a loving father, grandfathe­r and uncle, who will be greatly missed.

Earl was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Pat Wooden; great grandchild­ren, Houston Keith Wooden and Dart Elliot Justice; and siblings, Margaret Wallace, Mary Ruth Wooden, William Wooden, Robert Chester Wooden, Nell Bird, Callie Mae Hixon, Edward Wooden, Delie Marie Wooden and Doris Ann Tinker.

He is survived by his son and daughterin-Law, Dennis and Linda Wooden of Chickamaug­a; grandchild­ren, Donna Kaye Ferguson, Jennifer Lynn Wrape, and Dennis Keith Wooden; 10 great grandchild­ren; and several nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in Rock Spring Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday and prior to leaving for the cemetery on Wednesday.

Robert Lee Chambers,74, Hixson, Tenn.

Robert Lee Chambers,74, of Hixson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He attended Lookout Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Penske Truck Leasing.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Tommy and Pauline Holcomb; two brothers, Jerry Chambers and Kenneth Holcomb.

He is survived by his children, April Sharp, of Hixson, Robert L. Chambers, Jr. of Chattanoog­a; two sisters, Margaret Loftin and Barbara Alexander; two grandchild­ren, Travis Sharp and Cheryl Nash; several nieces and nephews.

He was a loving father, grandfathe­r and would do anything for anyone who needed help and showed unconditio­nal love to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m at the funeral home.
