Nellie Jo Gilbreath Harris, 80, LaFayette

Nellie Jo Gilbreath Harris, 80, of LaFayette passed away Sunday morning February 12, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Harris; sons, Michael Joe Harris

and Darrell Wayne Harris; daughter, Michelle Harris Trammel; granddaugh­ter, Rebecca Jo Harris; father, S.W. Gilbreath, and mother, Marvine Towe Gilbreath; sister, Betty Ann Gilbreath Mayfield; and son-inlaw, Dwight Mitchell.

Survived by daughter, Teresa Annette Mitchell of LaFayette; sons, Terry (Tracy) Harris of Rock Spring; Steve (Gwen) Harris and Bobby (Vannessa) Harris all of Chickamaug­a, and Shane (Misty) Harris of Fort Oglethorpe; sonin-law, John Trammel of Chickamaug­a; daughter-in-law, Pam Wright Harris of Chickamaug­a; sister, Patricia Bynum and brother, Carl Gilbreath both of Rossville; 18 grandchild­ren; 18 great grandchild­ren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Wednesday, February 15 at 2 p.m. with Brother Craig Westbrook and Brother Charles Lee officiatin­g.

Interment to follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are Shawn Harris, Timmy Mitchell, Kevin Harris, Matthew Harris, Noah Harris and Austin Harris.

Honorary pallbearer­s are B.J. Harris, Dustin Harris, Justin Harris, Michael Harris, and Cody Trammel.

Bobby Ray Millsaps, 50, Rock Spring

Bobby Ray Millsaps, 50, of Rock Spring, Georgia was called home unexpected­ly Friday, February 10, 2017.

Bobby was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, papa, and friend. Bobby loved playing the guitar and writing and playing music. He loved fishing and just spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by his parents Wayne and Elizabeth Millsaps, Sr. of Rock Springs, seven children, Justin Millsaps of Pikeville, TN, Joshua (Krissy) Millsaps of Dayton, TN, Matthew (Mallory) Millsaps, Shane (Rachel) Millsaps all of Fort Oglethorpe, Tiffany Barrett, Shauna Barrett (Nick Clark) all of Dayton, TN, and Erin Stephens of Rossville; four brothers, Wayne (Kim) Millsaps, Jr. of Trion, Randy (Michelle) Millsaps, Mike (Candy) Millsaps all of Rock Springs, and Junior Lowe of Cleveland, TN; one sister, Melissa Millsaps Brown of Rock Springs; 13 grandchild­ren, Brier, Brantley, Dakotah, Aaron, Michaela, Bailie, Brantley, Logan, Easton, Zoey, Hunter, Zayley, and Braelyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Tuesday, February 14

at 2 p.m. with Pastor Garland Hullender officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s are Matt Millsaps, Joshua Millsaps, Justin Millsaps, Nick Clark, Michael Brown, and David Brown.

Interment to follow in Rock Spring Cemetery.

Zim H. Whitten, 94, LaFayette

Zim H. Whitten, age 94, of LaFayette passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017.

He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Yother Whitten; parents, Zim Whitten, Sr. and Maybelle Whitten; sister, Leathon Johnson; and brothers, Woody Whitten, Claude Whitten, Hubert Whitten, and Earl Whitten.

Survivors are daughter, Kim Whitten of LaFayette and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church Thursday, February 16 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Romaine and Rev. Terry Burns officiatin­g.

Interment to follow in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Betty Faye Wallace Carrington, age 81, of LaFayette passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carrington; son, Ricky Carrington; great granddaugh­ter, Carmyn Piper Carrington; sisters, Montyne Wallace and Syble Parker Corriher; brothers, Winford Wallace and Ben Wallace; and son-inlaw, Eddie Steele.

Survivors are daughters Jeannie Steele and Tammy (Terry) Dixon all of LaFayette; sons, Mike (Angie) Carrington of LaFayette, Tony (Vicky) Carrington of Chickamaug­a, Danny (Kathy) Carrington and Timmy Carrington all of LaFayette; several grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews.

George (Pat) Laverne Morgan, 62, LaFayette

George (Pat) Laverne Morgan, age 62, of LaFayette passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Mr. Morgan was a car salesman. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Morgan and Pauline L. Morgan; brothers, Lamar Morgan, Charles Floyd, Jr., Gene Floyd, and Richard Blessing; and sister, Shirley Bailey.

Survivors include his loving friend of 15 years, Deborah Hicks, Deborah’s daughter, Christi; sisters, Janice (Mickey) Simmons and Sue (Ed) Stephens; brothers, Doyle (Diane) Morgan and Robert (Roseanne) Floyd; sister-in-laws, Debbie Morgan, Hazel Floyd and Bertie Floyd; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty Jo Allen, 86, Lookout Valley

Betty Jo Allen, 86, of Lookout Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 10, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Dade County High School where she was crowned “Miss Dade High” in 1948.

She was retired from Chattem with 25 years of service and was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church. She loved to travel, take cruises, and spend time with her family. Her husband, Roy H. Allen, four sisters, two brothers, and nephew, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter and sonin-law, Pat & Mike Sartin of Lookout Valley; son, Ricky H. Allen of Hixson, TN; grandchild­ren, Shea (Shannon) Sartin, Lauren (Mack) Ridge, Misty (Joey) Smith, & Courtney (Clay) Ensminger; eight greatgrand­children also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Herb Thomas officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens West, Lookout Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy & Gertrude Rinehart, son, Jerry Eugene Burleson, sister, Effie Watts, and brothers, Leonard & Ozelle Rinehart.

Carolyn Louise Swaney, 81, of Chattanoog­a passed away Monday, February 13, 2017.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia area where she was a 1953 graduate of Chattanoog­a Valley High School.

She worked in the 1970-1980s at Rope and Leather Company in Chattanoog­a making saddles. Her passions in life were her family, her dogs Missy and Butch, music, and playing the piano.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Swaney; parents, A. and Louise Hixson; and sister, Elizabeth Liz Cross.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Swaney, Mary Ellen (Eric) Boyd, Calvin (Heidi) Steele and Susan (Robert) Stewart; six grandchild­ren; seven great grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine Alice Ann Stevens, 68, of Chattanoog­a, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Stevens, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., was born on April 25, 1948 to the

late Donald and Elizabeth Thompson and has resided in the Chattanoog­a area for the past 25 years.

She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elizabeth Thompson, son, Robert Stevens, sisters, Donna Thompson, Bonnie Thompson and Marilyn Thompson, and a brother, Robert Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, John Stevens, daughter, Lory Stevens, son-in-law, Danny Beason, sisters, Linda Ware and Tammy King, grandsons, D.J. Beason, R.J. Beason and T.J Sims, granddaugh­ter, Tiffany Sims and five great grandchild­ren.

He proudly served his country, in the U.S. Army, during WWII.

SSgt. William David Lewis Sr., age 77 of Chickamaug­a, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a Area and was of the Baptist Faith.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. David was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and uncle, who will be greatly missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John David Lewis and Susie Lee Maxwell and son, John Willis Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 29 yrs., Virginia Lewis; daughter, Faith Lewis; son, William David Lewis, Jr.; step children, Maj. Christophe­r Firestone, Chris Stoker, Karen Carr and Angela Stoker; 10 grandchild­ren; 6 great grandchild­ren; and several nieces & nephews.

The funeral service

will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Ronnie Millican & Bro. Joe Lee officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in The Chattanoog­a National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
