70th Birthday Party and BBQ Dinner fundraiser, which will be held at The Colonnade in Ringgold on Feb. 25. The evening will feature a BBQ fundraising dinner, a roast of Souders and entertainment by the Kevin Roberts Jazz Quartet and two other bands formed by LFO band alumni. Entertainment will begin at 5 p.m., while dinner and the roast will begin at 6. Entertainment is scheduled to continue until 10:30 p.m.Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door the night of the event. COMMUNITY · Let’s Make a Difference would like to invite you to join with them at the Walker County Civic Center, located on U.S. Highway 27 in Rock Springs, for observance of the African American Festival of Praise Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25. Booths will be on display beginning at 3 p.m. and free refreshments will be served until 5 p.m.when the main program begins.The theme for this observance is “They Left Their Stamp on the World” with individuals portraying some of the African American inventors who have made great contributions to the advancement of civilization.

COMMUNITY ·The Walker County Historical Society will meet at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Kensington on Sunday, Feb. 26. Members and guests are asked to meet at 2:30 p.m. in the Marsh House parking lot (off Duke Street at the back of 308 N. Main Street in LaFayette) to car pool or meet at the site, 247 Southern Road (Pleasant Grove Road) in Chickamauga, at 3 p.m..The program will be about the history of that congregation in celebration of Black History Month. COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Library, 305 South Duke Street, in LaFayette hosts “Ready to Read Story Time” every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Both programs are identical. The program consists of stories, crafts, songs and games designed to prepare children for successful school careers.
