Ridgeland falls to Heritage

The Heritage tennis teams picked up a 5-0 wins at Ridgeland on Wednesday.

The Heritage boys (21, 1-0) received forfeits in all three singles matches. The team of Blake Richardson and Ethan Bone scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over Corey Housley and Tristen Card, while Brendan Robinson and Nick Darling beat Blake Espy/Anthony Woodward, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles.

The Panthers dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the region with the loss.

In the girls’ match, the Lady Generals moved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in 6-AAAA with a 5-0

victory.

Caroline Horsley beat Savannah Hulgan, 6-0, 6-0, at No.1 singles. Emma Lokey defeated Nicole Payne, 6-1, 6-0 and Maleah McAlister won by forfeit.

In doubles, Reagan Christol and Katelyn Burns handled Calissa Morgan and Lexi Mitchell, 6-0, 6-0, while the team of Erin Hulsey and Cadence Burton took down Ally Wensets and Lana Veal, 6-1, 6-0.

Ridgeland was scheduled to play at Gilmer on Thursday and at home against Dade County on Friday, but scores and results were not provided as of press time.

The Panthers are slated to travel to Jasper on Tuesday to face Pickens. The will play at Southeast Whitfield on Thursday and at home against Dade County on Friday.

Heritage will play again on Tuesday (March 14) at home against LaFayette in what could be a huge match for seeding purposes in the upcoming area tournament.
