Middle School Baseball: Bulldogs corral Mustangs

The Rossville Middle School Bulldogs scored seven times in the first inning and never looked back as they beat Saddle Ridge, 13-1, this past Thursday.

Robert Jent got the win on the hill. He threw six no-hit innings, struck out a dozen batters and helped himself with a 2-for-2 day at the plate.

Andrew Rider was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Zack Harrison had two hits and a pair of RBI, while Houston “Butch” Henry was 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Isaac Pitts had just one hit, but finished with three RBIs, while Aiden Raymer had a hit and an RBI.

For the Mustangs, Dakota Catlett singled and knocked in the only run for the Navyand-Red, while Teddy Ownby stole a base.

Gordon Lee 5, Dade County 0

The Trojans improved to 2-0 in NGAC league play with a win over Dade County on Thursday.

Jacob Neal went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to

pace the offense, while Brody Cobb and Cody Thomas each knocked in one run. Jake Poindexter and Cody Thomas combined to give up just five hits in the victory.

South Pittsburg 5, Gordon Lee 4

In a non-region game in Jasper on Saturday, the Trojans took an early 2-0 lead against a strong Pirate squad, but South Pittsburg’s pitching would hold the Navyand-White to just five hits on the day.

Ringgold 13, LaFayette 4

The LaFayette Middle School Ramblers put up four runs in the first three innings on Thursday, but gave up a run in the third, four runs in the fourth, five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth and dropped a 13-4 decision to Ringgold.

Dylan Deering had a double, a triple and drove in two runs for LaFayette, while Ethan Adams collected two RBIs without the benefit of a hit.

Cade Fisher threw 3.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts. David Richardson and Hunter Deal also pitched for the Ramblers.
