LaFayette tennis teams lose at Heritage
The Heritage Generals moved to 4-1 overall and stayed unbeaten in Region 6-AAAA (3-0) with a 4-1 home win over the LaFayette Ramblers this past on Friday.
The Navy-and-Red got two victories in singles, Tim Grayson beat Noah Matthews at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, while Davis Kilgo outlasted Brad Templeton, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
In doubles, the team of Mark Crane and Tristan Rogers needed three sets to finally put away Aaron Asbeury and Dillon Hughes, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5, while Black Richardson and Ethan Bone had an easier time with Andrew Long and Isaiah Southern, 6-1, 6-3.
The lone point for LaFayette (5-3, 2-1) came at No. 1 singles as Jarrod Sitton beat Leo Peace, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1.
In an exhibition match, Heritage’s Shaw Boland and Eric Wooten joined forces for a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brady Beard and Parker Rodas-Webster.
In the girls’ match, the only victory for the Lady Ramblers (5-3, 1-2) came at No. 1 singles where Madison Denny coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kaylee Bright.
Emma Lokey got past Asberri Freeman at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 7-6, while Maleah McAlister beat Madison Harris, 6-2, 6-0.
Then in doubles, Reagan Christol and Katelyn Burns beat Hannah Durham and S.J. Oxford, 6-0, 6-1. The Lady Generals closed it out as Erin Hulsey and Cadence Burton took care of Ida Scoggins and Aubrey Steadman, 6-4, 6-4.
In exhibition doubles, Heritage’s Savannah Viars and Kinsey Hargis beat Lauren Torbett and Emma Richardson, 6-1, while Heritage’s Anna Grace Skinner and Rachel Smith held off Micaela Hobbs and Macy Brewer, 6-4.
Heritage’s girls are now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the region.
Details of LaFayette’s match at Pickens on Monday were not available as of press time. The Ramblers and Lady Ramblers will host Southeast (Tuesday) and Gilmer (Thursday) this week.
