- By Scott Herpst

A possible Region 6-A championship series preview took place at the Lakepoint Complex in Cartersville on Friday as the North subregion leader Gordon Lee faced off with South subregion leader King’s Ridge Christian.

King’s Ridge (155), ranked No. 4 in the Class A Private School standings, touched up Trojan pitching for six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead, but Gordon Lee would score seven times in their final three atbats to pull out the 7-6 victory.

Gordon Lee ace Ethan Clark retired the first nine batters he faced, including striking out the side in order in the third. But six straight batters would reach base with one out in the fourth. Kaleb Harris capped the frame with a two-run single.

The Trojans would get a run back in the top of the fifth as Austin Thompson launched a solo homer and Gordon Lee would stun the Tigers with a five-run sixth inning to knot the score. The Trojans got the runs on three hits, two walks, an RBIsingle by Thompson and a three-run, twoout double by Mason Pettigrew.

Clark would come home on a passed ball in the top of the seventh, which served as the eventual winning run.

Cole Tarvin replaced Clark on the hill in the fifth and gave up just one hit. Thompson threw 1 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out one to get the win. He stranded two runners in scoring position in the sixth and stranded runners at first

and second in the last of the seventh.

Pettigrew finished 2-for-3, while Wooden and Clark also had hits for the Trojans.
